You have to want to do it, that is the key. I truly believe you can do anything you want in the world to an extent. If you have the will to fight each day and determination you will succeed. You will be kicked down and out many times but this is a test of your will and how you will become a better person. I am a perfect example of a person that had no direction but i wanted the good life, I put all I can in to learning and working as much as I could into a certain field, made the right connections, good credit is a must in all this.. you can do it, you have to want to do it yourself though. Trust me, I know what I am talking about. Self made right here!

How about joining some sort of rec sports league? That gets you out of the house, gets you at least a little exercise (not much if it's bowling or pool, but even those are much better than sitting on the couch), and puts you in a social situation with a different group than your coworkers (who obviously aren't doing it for you).
Most leagues are happy to find a team to put you on. You might find yourself with a bunch of new good friends. At worst, it's a lame time but you get a little better at some game.
