Default Any of Y'all quit cigs for a new years' Revolution/Resolution ?

    How's it going ?

I didn't quit at the stroke of midnite, had two left, smoked them during the hockey game at Fenway ( on TV).

none since, or two this year.

I kinda want one, to be honest.

Keep it going sir. Check out Chantix, I've heard it helps quite a bit.

I'm trying. Again. Did the same thing, last one counts when you went to bed on the night of the 31st.

You trying drugs/patches or going cold turkey?

I quit cold turkey after 1/2 pack a day in July of 09. Don't feel the urge at all anymore.

i quit cold turkey on the dec. 18th, went through mad withdrawal for a few days then it started getting easier. i still feel like a smoke once or twice each day but i've got my mind set on being a non-smoker.

Use Chantix or Wellbutrin. You'll have no desire to smoke.

Aren't they the ones with the slight side effect of making you want to kill yourself?

Some people who have depression get suicidal when they begin taking Wellbutrin.

If you're not currently suffering from depression I don't think you have anything to worry about. I used the Wellbutrin to stop smoking. I had some annoying side effects from the Wellbutrin for about 2 weeks (heart palpitations/anxiety) but then it evened out and I was fine. No desire to smoke cigs.

Interestingly enough, two side effects of taking Wellbutrin are weight loss and increased libido. I stopped taking it after about 4 months because I was losing to much weight.

I'm going sort of cold turkey, but it's really a cost thing, with cigs at $8 + a pack.

I was getting generics for about $2.50 a pack shipped to me....about $50 for two cartons of Senecas shipped to me from A-1 cig in Kentucky....used them for maybe 4-5 months....they went under in late Dec.

I ran low around Dec 18th or so, couldn't re- order from A=1. ran out right around X-mas, quit for about 2 days, then caved and bought two more packs at $8 !

I didn't do the stroke of midnite thing, so two left on jan 1st.

smoked them, none since....if I cave, I think I have to order online, $8 + a pack is insane.

GL, Doug and Taco. I quit in late October. I get a craving about once a week now. It gets easier!! Hang in there.

I have never smoked a cigarette in my life. I have no idea the feeling you get.

The habit of ordering online for $2.50 a pack is what will make it work for me. I'm too cheap to pay $8 a pack....40 cents a cig.....Shit I'll go back to smoking pot at those prices !

I have to order in advance or pay $8 a pack, I'm literally getting taxed out of being able to smoke !

    Do you do anything habitually....

    coffee
    drugs
    chocalate
    alcohol
    doughnuts

    even stuff like

    jogging
    bowling
    sex
    skiing
    whatever

something you were in the habit of doing......now it's gone !

Your post gets the vote for "Most Useless and Unneeded Thing Ever Said on SBR"

If you don't know the feeling, go try it

BOL on your quitting adventure, Doug. It's much easier when you got some herb to get you by.....

Day 3 for me. I've tried everything in the past. The gum was the best, trying again.

Sunflower seeds, anything you can really chew on throughout the day also helps big time...

Hitting the gym daily would be a good idea, just do it, after about a month you'll be used to it and will feel better and healthier than you ever have in your life before.

I quit for the second time in my life two months ago when I heard cigs around here will soon reach $6 pack. That's probably nothing to some of you guys up north but I used to go down to NC and get cartons for $15.

plus restaraunts banning smoking making you feel like a low life having to go outside and s_hit. not very cool.

it was way easier the 2nd time but like soaked said you still want to smoke.

you just have to do positive things like bet on sports, gamble on card games, play slot machines, ect and get used to being a healthy non smoker
