Seeing as Europe is now the worlds GDP economic super power

European Union 14,527,140 GDP (millions of USD)
United States 13,244,550 GDP (millions of USD)

Do the Costarican books need Yank customers? or have they realised that Europe is where the money is?

Europe may be where the money is at now but I think that Americans are far more liberal with their money and much more apt to gamble than Europeans. Combine that with the fact that sports are insanely popular in America and its easy to see why the books desperately need the American market.

I have no doubt about this. But America has a variety of sports that millions of people follow and are willing to wager on.

Not to mention, the line on the Super Bowl has a little more worldwide importance than the line on Manchester United's next match.

I'm not going to get into a USA vs. UK pissing match, but to imply that the American market is meaningless because of Europe's GDP is ludicrous and every sportsbook on the planet would tell you the same.

    USA is important but

Soccer is the most bet sport in the world
Europe is the worlds economic super power

USA is not that important anymore, sorry but you cannot argue against FACT!

    World cup
    European cup
    Champions league
    Uefa cup
    FA Cup

as citizen of EU i am SO proud that the GDP that de facto is only faked number with zero connection to reality /thank you Italy, Greece and others , thank you dark and grey industry like prostitutes, drugs, betting, tax evasion, corruption / is now by some minimal percent higher than GDP of USA. It means very much. Especially when we consider that this first prize was awarded thanks joining of Bulgaria and Romania, who are.. for our american friends.. countries at economical level of TOGO (well know country in USA) i guess.

North America is made up of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

The OP was comparing the U.S. to Europe.

You sound like you're bragging about ALLLLL of Europe making just a little more then the US as a whole... Are you serious..? That's like saying 20 people can do a little more work then one person and those 20 are the superpower... GET A CLUE!!! I got news for you and that is you are NOT a superpower and to be one you'll have to be FAR more ahead then that...and the second is that you'll soon have to compare those stats to the North American Union not the US and in that case I think you should just take a seat... Soccer may be bigger globablly but who cares most of the soccer fans around the world have no money... I mean come on you need ALL of Europe to compete with the US... Don't count Asia because they make pennies a day as a whole population... Dude look at it a little closer before you put some sh*t up like this...

According to Asian bookies and gambling in Asia is about 100x the volume of the Caribbean 85% is on European football and still 15% (Way higher than I expected) on NBA. Other sports simply none.

You can't be serious, is the American educational system that bad?

FYI: The USA is not a "continent" it is a "country". You must be confused because the word America is in there.
Alabama is not in "South America".

Depending on the source, there are 189, 191, 192, 193 or 194 independent countries in the world today.

A continent is one of several large landmasses on Earth. They are generally identified by convention rather than any strict criteria, but seven areas are commonly reckoned as continents – they are: Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe, and Australia.

    Australia is the only Country/Continent.

Look, I'm pretty sure the US is a continent, but it's also a country, I think, but whatever it is, it doesn't matter. If it's a continent it's the best continent in the world, and if it's a country it's the best country in the world, and the whole world knows it, and that's why we have great air conditioning and great cars and great megastores and great ideas like Kelly criterion and all of that. Yeah they have that stuff in other continents I guess, but they's not as good and they know it, they're just J-E-A-L-O-U-S.

Come on, you're showing your ignorance here. Geographical size is irrelevant. By your argument, Antarctica has an even higher GDP than Europe since it has a bigger land mass, right?

And, as had been said, you're comparing a continent with a country. Have you got the data for North America as a whole to compare with Europe? Why not find that out and post it for us? And while you're there, why not find out the per capita GDP figures for the United States and compare that to Europe as a whole. Which country is "richer" in relative terms?

You're inability to understand statistics is a sad reflection of the British education system.

Spoken like a text book ignorant and arrogant American.

Europe is a Continent. North America is a continent. US is a country.

    Get an education!

Ignorance, and attitudes like this are the reason for the coming fall of the "American Empire"

    Look at your Dollar!

Watch it spinning around the bowl as it goes down the toilet

the Euro is the next world standard currency, and when that finally happens the US will be in an economic turmoil such that has never been seen, not even in the great depression.

    Global Karma
