Agreed, I've moved the line lots of times just by placing a max bet on bases (and other sports). It's not really an issue of individuals who have a lot of personal influence. It's just a question of balancing their action.

If a player shows he is ahead of the line moves the book will either move on his money or boot him.

Thats why (IMO) a lot of the "recreational" books drop the ball kicking out players. What they should do is drop their limits.

Those who keep playing the moves with low limits are cheap alarm clocks! I was talking to one of the sharpest bookmakers the other day who told me about a couple of Asian guys who accept their reduced bet limit of $100 per bet. For the cost of $100-$300 these players make sure the book is never behind on a move.

Depends on the book, depends on the volume that is bet on the sport and depends if it's bet overnight or not. You can easily move Pinnacle lines overnight on sports that aren't bet as much. Even overnight baseball is easy to move. Big books don't care about public action or balanced action.

I do not think a limit bet on bases at Cris is going to get their attention after 2:00PMEST

    Want a bet ?

$2,500 max on runline .... 100% certain they move.

$3,000 max on moneyline .... only 90% certain they move off that one bet ... they move, for sure, but there's a chance one or two more people might have snuck in bets at that line.

Raiders, Raiders, Raiders ... I think you've been reading the forums too much ... losing touch with reality ... just repeating oft-repeated fallacies. And before you ask ... yes, I'm talking baseball.

    Halifax,

You are assuming people are making a limit bet on the right number, correct? If you take the Pitt ML right now for the max, the only move they are going to make is to call you to increase your limit.

You're right about that. If CRIS has Pitt +109 and everyone else has +118, betting the +109 likely won't move the line ... after all, they can just bet out at +118 if they so desire. If CRIS has Pitt +120, and you bet $3K, they move.

    Halifax is sharp

    Raiders is sharp

Would be a tough bet for me to make who is right

I think though Cris does not move lines much on max bets

Bill- This is why they allow Halifax to bet the limit. They know a good thing when they see it.

And I was talking hoops and foots. Only square books move on action. What can happen though is that a ML may not correspond with a normal side because of action.

I have called in 5k bets on MLB totals at CRIS and 10k football bets they took them after yelling out a few numbers in the backround

Fishhead- I know that you claim to be an entry level millionaire and have made a killing in the slots. I should bow in your presence. So you are saying that public action moves the line in football and hoops at books such as Pinny. If this is what you are saying then stick to slots otherwise you are going to lose that supposed $million that you have made.

Offshore books are much different than Vegas. In Vegas the limits aren't anything close to what they are offshore. Lines can be moved easier in Vegas by public money. Looks like the game is passing you by.

Fish: Det is -3 over GB week 1 NFL. If you bet the limit at Pinny do you think that they are going to move off of 3?

RAID--No mention of "public action" was mentioned.

About 74% of my personal wagers across the board move the line in some fashion.

Understand and agree with what you are saying about limits being lower at say a place like Vegas, where tons of built-up square money accumulates faster with WAY LESS WISEGUY action........... as some shops in Vegas doesnt have the amount of sharps visiting them on a CONSTANT basis such as betting online affords individuals with a simple click of the mouse.

There may be only ONE wiseguy working a particular shop in Vegas ALL DAY with the remainder of individuals being as square as a door knob.........and sometimes he has to take a crap or has to eat a free buffet so he misses a good line.

I was in Vegas last year and tried to bet a future for a dime. It said dime limit. The guy tells me I'll give you $300 at 12-1, $300 at 10-1 and $300 at 8-1.
