Default I got absolutely crushed today...

Admittedly, I was on Chicago +5 and Oscar +170 because my heart wanted both of them. They were small wagers.

But... I was on Houston HUGE today. Didn't even buy it down to -5 because I thought they would cruise at home with the implications of Game 7, being at home, McGrady's sense of urgency to finally win a Game 7 after losing 2 others.

Wow, this one was crushing today. My largest wager of the 2007 NBA playoffs.

After a great run in the NCAA Tourney, and nice run the past two weeks in the NBA Playoffs, I have hit a wall. Sorry faders, I will refrain from posting my picks because right now because I'm taking a much-needed break. I will be around to read and post here and there and root others on though. Some of you are on fire!

    JJ, Please reread my post.

I had very small bets on Chicago +5 and Oscar, and a big bet on Houston. Houston bet was about 4 times what I had on the aforementioned two wagers, because I truly felt like it was a smart bet. I have made bets like this for years and won 55%+ of them -- this happened to be one of the 45%+ that I lost. It happens.

If Utah was so much better every game, why did they lose the first two games by 9 and 8, respectively. Why was the series tied 3-3?

It's in the eye of the beholder.

Last year the Lakers looked great against Phx for 6 games yet I rolled Phx -5 in Game 7 and they smashed the Lakers. The Cavs looked so good against Detroit in last year's series for 6 straight games yet I rolled Detroit -7 in Game 7 and they ran away with Game 7.

I would bet Houston -5.5 in Game 7 at home, again and again and again. 55%+ of the time I will cash the ticket.

The capping all pointed to TMac and Houston. I liked Utah to win this series because they are just a better half court team. Keep your chin up, lots of games to go.

First off... Sorry to hear your loss.

Historically the numbers did point all to Houston in that game. I passed on that game, but I would have taken the Rockets myself.

BTW, I see Van Gundy retired today too.

    Buddy, John, Dan, thank you.

Dan, here's how I believe the Van Gundy "retirement" went down:

Houston GM & Owner: "Jeff, you can either say you are taking an indefinite leave from coaching, or we're going to fire you".

Van Gundy: "Okay, I think I'll leave now".

Not winning a single playoff series with Yao and T-Mac is unacceptable.

tmac is the most overrated player in the nba and a proven loser, you should never bet with him.

This has become painfully clear. Although he seemed to do all he could to win. I blame the Houston backcourt more than anything--they are awful. It's a wonder that they even had the 4th best record in the West, getting the 5th seed.

When you get crushed it is very difficult to come back, most gamblers get crushed more than they crush the book therefore ending up deep in the red.
