Floyd will win this fight, but I don't think his father's past with Oscar has any relevance - Floyd rarely speaks to his father, and Floyd's trainer, his uncle Roger, hasn't spoken to Floyd Sr. in years.

If Mayweather wants to trade with DLH, he will get roughed up by Oscar's strength. Oscar's natural weight is 154, Mayweather's is much smaller. By fight time, Oscar will be around 160, perhaps slightly heavier. His strength could be the difference in this fight.

I have never seen so many ppl on so many internet boards who are so confident about a guy as they are about Mayweather. The guy has never been in the ring with a guy of Oscar's power.

Could be a big surprise tonight as I believe Oscar will go right after him, courtesy of the strategy his trainer Freddie Roach has employed. I will be very, very surprised if Mayweather dominates Oscar tonight.

Let me repeat: I will be very, very surprised if Mayweather dominates Oscar tonight.

Not necessarily true. Both started out their careers at 130. True, Oscar has been at that weight longer, but it's not as decided an advantage as, say, when DLH fought Hopkins, who was a much bigger, stronger fighter. Oscar will have a size advantage, and he is the bigger puncher to begin with, but I wouldn't put too much into DLH being the "bigger" guy, when Oscar himself isn't a natural junior middleweight.

I don't think Floyd will dominate this fight, but his speed is a HUGE problem for DLH, much more so than Oscar's power will trouble Floyd. In boxing, speed is always a bigger advantage than strength. Don't forget, Mayweather has fought big puncher's, most notably Diego Corrales. Most experts thought Corrales would take that fight, and it ended up not even being a contest. That was several years and about 20 lbs. ago for Floyd, but it still is an indication of what Mayweather can do against a bigger, stronger puncher.

Mayweather wins a unanimous decision, 116-112.

Once, but it wasn't a legit knockdown. When Floyd fought Carlos Hernandez in 2001, he had badly injured hands coming into the fight. Mayweather landed a hook during the fight, and the pain from throwing the punch caused him to drop his hand to the canvas.

I think Oscar acquitted himself well, but Pretty Boy Floyd is obviously a different class of fighter at this point in time.

    Congrats Floyd backers.

I agree. This is about pay-per-view dollars. There will be a rematch. De La Hoya will win it. Then there will be a final match that Mayweather will win.

Guys, I don't think the fight was rigged. I'll be surprised if there is a rematch. I've spoken to a lot of ppl about the fight, and not one has said that he would pay for it again. Perhaps they'll feel differently in 6 months, but the prevailing opinion I have heard is that Oscar simply cannot beat Floyd and a rematch is pretty much pointless.

I would be surprised if Oscar ever fought again. A rematch would be even more one-sided than last night's fight.

I would be even more surprised, despite what he's saying, if Mayweather retired. I don't think it will be a DLH rematch, but there are too many legitimate opponents out there for him to retire in his prime - Cotto, Margarito etc.

I agree that Mayweather shouldn't retire, for the same reasons you say, RJT.

But re: a rematch with Oscar, imagine if Mayweather truly believes that this fight was "easy" as he said in the post-fight, what if he doesn't train as hard and gets popped by Oscar a few times, and Oscar sticks with the jab. Oscar can beat a lackadaisical, unprepared Floyd. Don't you think?

I, personally, have no interest in a rematch because the only way Oscar wins is if Floyd doesn't care. But, you know how rematches go -- they typically go to the guy who lost the first fight..

No, I don't gridiron. Sure, Oscar could stick to the jab more in a potential rematch, but I just feel Floyd would make adjustments to use the added aggressiveness against DLH. I believe one of the biggest reasons Oscar went away from the jab Saturday was the fear of Mayweather countering. Floyd's speed is just too much for Oscar to deal with.

As for Mayweather being lackadaisical and unprepared for a potential rematch, Floyd would never let that happen. Boxing is the kid's life. As arrogant and unlikable as he can be, he is ALWAYS prepared and there is no one who trains harder. The six months or so leading up to the rematch would only hurt Oscar, as he would be that much older, and as a result, slower, giving Mayweather even more of an advantage.

All things considered, I felt DLH fought pretty well Saturday. There's certainly no shame in losing a split decision to the the top pound-for-pound fighter in his prime, even though I don't feel the fight was as close as the scores indicated - I had it scored 8-4 Mayweather.
