Last year was the first Dallas team in franchise history to make the NBA Finals, and guess what, it was Avery coaching and Dirk playing that was instrumental in getting them there. Avery did not forget how to coach, and Dirk did not forget how to play.

They simply ran into a bad matchup. Styles make fights in boxing, and styles dictate basketball as well. Defense wins championships, right? Then why did UCLA (the best defensive team in NCAAB the past two years) get their asses kicked twice in consecutive years to Florida?

It's because Florida's style disrupted everything UCLA wanted to do.

Golden St had a style that completed disrupted Dallas in everything they wanted to do. Keen NBA eyes like many here at SBR's forum know that Golden St did not get their groove on until after the trade for Jackson and Harrington, and had they had those guys all season, they would've won 50+ games.

This was not a normal 8 vs 1 seed. This was a rare exception...

The Warriors are obviously for real.

If they are going to shoot 55% from 3PT land they will be tough to beat. I agree Grid, the Warriors, like the Nugs, got their team together late. They are different teams than their records show.

The big deal is where do the Mavs go from here? They could win 70 and still be deflated for a year. I'm expecting personel changes. Fans are going to need a reason to think next year's team is more than a good practice squad.

i speak out of emotion, and probably alot out of frustration. i grew up in dallas and suffered thru many years of absolute horrid mavs teams. but these last two years have been worse. i'd have no problem going back to that draft and taking paul pierce instead. you too call yourself a mavs fan, so how can you defend him?

Avery does get to take some heat on this one. I won't break down the mistakes that were made from a coaching standpoint early in the series...he was blatantly outcoached; but he had a clear opportunity to defeat Golden State in a one game series at the end of the regular season and inexplicably chose to give the 8-seed to Golden State sealing the Mavericks fate by forcing them to play against a team that has OWNED (check the member list) the Mavericks. He could have put his team up against the Slippers and would be resting up for the semis at this point.

And make no mistake about it, Golden State was the better team.

Dallas made it to the Finals last season, a place they never went with Nash and place Nash has not gone to with any other team.

Hardly "the biggest upset in nba history" as was said on tnt tonight.

The Warriors are 20-6 (21-5ats) with Davis, Richardson, and Jackson playing together. They had one home loss with those players to san antontio, and they were playing a back to back.

Nuggets on the other hand finished with a worse record with iverson in the lineup than they did before the trade.

I think the reasoning of tanking the 1 game was to hopefully let Golden St get up to the #7 spot and then the Lakers would have dropped to the 8th. Also, what if the Mavs tried their best in that game and still lost? That would have really messed with their heads (even though that ended up happening anyway)

I loved seeing Mark Cuban look like he was going to cry...

Dallas lost in six but they still had the sixth best winning pct in NBA history. They just got caught flat footed and outmatched. It isn't the first time an 8 seed beat a 1 seed...
