    Default A great speech by an athlete...

    I always roll my eyes when I see athletes get interviewed on TV and they sound so ridiculous that you become almost certain that they are illiterate... it seems like the only news about athletes outside the world of sports nowadays are run-ins with police and scandals about low academic standards.

    Kevin Johnson spoke at my class at Cal a few weeks ago, and his speech is online at this link: (wed 3/7)

    He talks about education, improving communities and he's pretty funny too. I just thought that it was great to see an athlete who is a true role model for America's kids other than getting them to try to become pro athletes. It was very refreshing, and I enjoyed it so I thought that I would pass it on.

    Kevin Johnson is one of the brightest guys to ever play in the NBA, and he is honest to a fault sometimes.

    My favorite KJ in-game story was when he and another player were diving for a loose ball that went out of bounds. The referee whispered to Johnson "Who touched it last?" and KJ replied "I did!" The ref went with that as the Phoenix coach had a coranary.

    that is a good story about KJ's in game with the offical... I like to hear sh*t like that... He should be honest about it because the officals down the line will give him the benifit of the doubt more often then not.... I think one of the main reason you see so much negativety about athletes is because the media is so f*ucked up that the only worth while thing left is to fade them... ALMOST EvERYTHING they say...the opposite is likely true... Athletes do good things but the media likes to air negativety... Why do they show a shooting on the news..? THERE IS NO POINT AT ALL in it but to keep the public in fear...

    Anyone that thinks honest reporting goes on is living in a fairy tale world...
