Default These companies dropping Tiger for endorsements are so stupid.

You going to get more attention for your product than ever before if Tiger is involved!! If he comes up on the screen for a commercial, the average person is going to be more attentive. If he shows up at some event like "The Gillette Back Shaving Competition", the press is going to report it and Gillette's name is going to get repeated over and over.


What are these people thinking?? They're actually getting more bang for their buck.

But in these PC times, no company wants to be identified with a serial adulterer. He needs some time to rehabilitate his image, and in a couple years, he'll likely be back to where he is now.

The old saying is not true; there is such thing as bad publicity. If the person you're paying to promote your product is in some deep shit, it isn't good to have your name associated with that person.

Think of it another way; if a chick sees you wearing a Tag Heuer watch, and she knows Tiger is their spokesman, she's probably going to think you're going ot screw around on her because of your association with the product, and it's association with Tiger (now maybe you will screw around, but you obviously don't want her thinking that).

The reason people pay for celebrity endorsements is the same reason they will dump them in a situation like this. People associate your product with that name, and if that name is ruined, your product's name is going down with it.

Tiger will be fine in a year or two, and sponsors will be all over him again.

I don't believe that. It's name recognition more than anything. If they hear Tag Heuer a million times, they're buying a Tag Heuer over a product they don't know. Getting the name out is the most important thing in sales.
