Default Why is Brees even considered among the top QBs?

The guy has won only one playoff game (wild-card) in 4 trips to the playoffs over 9 seasons on good, playoff caliber teams in San Diego with LT and Gates in their prime and a good defense, and since he's been in New Orleans in 2006. Rivers hasn't had any problem winning big games in San Diego.

His stats the last two years has been phenomenal but he does not compare career-wise. Is he a "system QB" or is that even possible in the NFL?

He is Tony Romo minus a fumbled extra point snap and with 6 more years of opportunity. (Not a slam on either, just stating the facts)

He is the epitomy of someone who has never won meaningful games.

Intelligent feedback requested, keep the "Who Dat?, Saints rule!!" and "Tony Homo sucks!!" comments for the drunken sports bar banter.

A question I would like answered is how good Brady would be if he didn't play for the Pats.

    Would he be great? Yes.

Would he have won a Superbowl w/o Billacheat? Don't think so.

Saints will be one and done in the postseason.

One outstanding playoff run winning three road games and then the Super Bowl against the undefeated Patriots and his family pedigree.

Other than that his career play is only slightly above average.

his team last year was not that talented. they had the 29th ranked defense. This is the year to really evaluate him because his defense is comparable to the offense and they will be playing all their games at home. If they dont make it to the super bowl its a failed year and brees is overrated so wait about 4-5 more weeks to really get the conclusion

Beg to differ, Brady is the biggest reason they won three Super Bowls. He didn't even have any receivers.

Brees doesn't even belong in the same conversation with Brady and Peyton Manning.

I get the impression that Eli Manning does not know how to tie his shoe laces or comb his hair.

It's a good thing he is an NFL quarterback.

This Saints team is virtually no different than last year and their defense has been exposed for the last two months.

What happens this year is irrelevant, Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson have won Super Bowls this decade.

I can't predict the future but we have 9 years of history to work with.

To make a fair statement I'd have to go over his stats and compare him w/ the other top QB's.

Btw, it'd be interesting to see all the QB's ranked by number of playoff wins and also by regular season wins.

Also, I don't understand why teams didn't examine the brains of guys like Leaf and Cutler. They fell in love w/ the body and the arm... but they are losers upstairs.

    Nice little record:

Brees made a little more history for New Orleans and kept mistake-prone Detroit struggling, passing for 342 yards and three touchdowns as the Saints won their fourth straight, 31-17 over the Lions on Sunday night.

The performance gave Brees 4,031 yards this season, making him the first quarterback in NFL history to eclipse the 4,000-yard mark in the first 12 games.

Brees might be better than Rodgers right now
