Who's gonna trade up into the top 5 of the NFL Draft?
and who are they going to take?
Nobody's really talked about it, but I could easily see the 49ers trading up to get Calvin Johnson (to 1.2 from Detroit maybe). They have a buttload of draftpicks to deal away (including #11 overall, #42 overall, two 3rd round picks and four 4th rd picks) and are in dire need of a #1 WR.
Statistically speaking the top 5 picks might be worth less than picks 6-10 due to the high amount of cash they must be paid and the high percent of the salary cap they take up. Trades into the top 5 are less likely than they used to be do to teams realizing how much all day 1 picks are worth (after the top picks), and how flagrantly awful it is to take someone in the top 5 and have them not pan out. Simply put, if all the players in the first round were paid equally, the top pick would be great, but as is, it is a curse.
