Exclamation Steelers as 6th seed starting to look more than possible

Steelers as 6th seed starting to look more than possible

    Here is my theory:
*1.Pittsburgh wins out remaining two games Baltimore&Miami

*2.Jags lose to pats at pats very likely

*3.Denver lose to Philly at Philly very likely

*4 Jets lose to Indy at Indy very likely or lose to Bengals

*5. automatic elimination in Texans@ Miami game: rooting for MIami cause spoilers win easier than contenders or if Texans win they lose to Patriots following week

*6 not so Important but would maybe help in some weird way
Chargers beat Titans @ Titans very likely

*7 Steelers will win tie breakers against following teams Tennessee &Denver
Now with this theory into place if steelers win out and the above come out as predicted the Ravens and Steelers will go to playoffs as 5th and 6th seed....

So does this mean Steelers control their own destiny?YES WITH MINIMAL HELP *see above information*
In plain English these are the determining factors that have to happen for steeler chances to get on the road to the super bowl

Steelers will win tie breakers against following teams Tennessee &Denver simply cause they beat them during regular season.
Now these teams would beat Pittsburgh in a tie breaker because of better AFC conference record : Jags&Jets
Miami&Baltimore not a factor cause Steelers play them

So this leaves the Texans and they are tied with Steelers as far as conference record goes but The Texans beat the Bengals so they would probably win tie breaker
So since that's been said the following have to happen for the Steelers if they win out: jags ,jets , and Texans HAVE to lose one of their two games and the Steelers are in period dot end of story

    In mathematical terms:
Jaguars lose 1 out of 2
    +
Jets lose 1 out of 2
    +
Texans lose 1 out of 2
    +
Steelers win 2 out of 2
    =
    Steelers in playoffs
what do ya think of That Steeler nation and fellow Steel City Mafia members?

Yes hard to believe but it's a fact that the BURGH IS ALIVE & WELL TO "UNLEASH HELL IN"
    JANUARY.

    PS
C'mon Troy get well this week for you are the final piece of this puzzle to repeat for the 7th ring

*ALSO SEE* Big Ben is my hero T.D. AS CLOCK EXPIRES!!!

It's possible, but very unlikely. They need to win their last two and have the Jets and Jaguars lose one as well.

Then they'd have to somehow beat out either the Ravens or Broncos. The Ravens are assured of a better conference record, so their better chance is Denver.

So beat Baltimore, beat Miami, and have Jets, Jags, and Denver lose once.

I don't know exactly what the odds on Pittsburgh making the playoffs would be, but they'd be high. I'd offer 8/1.

    I left out Denver.

I believe if those three lose once, Pitt would control its own destiny.

saying if those 3 teams lose the steelers control their own destiny is kinda like me saying, if Jessica Alba gets hit on the head, gets amnesia, falls on my door-step, and falls in love with me.....that I potentially control my getting married to Jessica Alba.

they got a slim slim chance to get in, but I don't think they'll be in "control"

losing 5 games by 3 pts in a season will put you in situations like this I still hope my boys make it but it would be a huge surprise to me personally

it would be a travesty against all that is fair in the NFL, you should not lose to the chiefs, browns, and raiders within 1 month and be able to sniff the playoffs....

what a crazy afc playoff picture.....

So that's great news then cause i don't see jets beating indy , the jags beating pats or broncos beating eagles all would have to do it on favorites turf then it would'nt matter what ravens would do last game cause they would get 5th seed and Pitt gets
tie breaker against Denver cause they beat them also Titans but no matter what Ravens do they will finsh as 5th seed because they have a better division record cause steelers lost to Browns like idiots

All that matters is who ever is strongest at seasons end belongs in the post season and if Palumalu comes back in good health look out cause he is a one man offensive wrecking machine: 6th seed = repeat of the Jerome Bettis story which =

Well Big Ben did just drop 500+ yards on the # 3 passing defense in the NFL..... so I guess if they get in, they could just try to win it Arizona style, without much defense. although zona stepped up their game in the playoffs...

but this current steelers team is too reminiscent of the tommy gun offense of the early 2000's with lots of throwing and very little running

The Steelers losing to the Raiders sealed their fate this year.

How can you compare a mail order Quarterback Tommy Maddox To Ben You are not serious right? and They still have a running game when they want they just choose to let Ben take charge because their Defense is non existent without Troy so they have to air it out in a shoot out every game cause it's their best chance to win.
Now if I were to compare an offense to theirs the closest match would be Philadelphia not the Tommy Gun he threw as many INT's as TD's and their best running back was Amos zeroei I can't remember if Bettis was injured or Cowher benched him

He's not saying Big Ben is similar to Maddox.

He's saying the offense they're running has a similar style, due to the shift away from the running game.

    Don't forget Aaron Smith.

    Nah, Philly's offense is better.

He missed part of 2002 with injuries and then began 2003 as the backup to Zereoue.

Yes I know that but MY argument is you can't compare the two offenses as a whole because of the caliber diference of Ben and Tommy how ever MCnabb & Ben are close to the same caliber but play the position with different styles from one another but offense as a whole they are close because of the balance ratio of run&pass &both can run ball when needed and also both are good at running back as receivers&screens out of the backfield so that makes these two offenses the most simular match

after head to head, is conference record the tie breaker. If so looks like Denver will most likely get in if they just beat KC.

yes, conference record is the top tiebreaker after HTH for comparing two teams from different divisions.

If three+ teams are involved, it's the top tiebreaker, because HTH does not apply to 3+ ties.

After conference record comes common games.

    Nope. Stillas are done.

God I love that Tomlin won't be in the playoffs. How sweet is that.

And next year they'll be dusted in the 1st round.... IF they make the playoffs. Ah yes, thing of beaute.

Then you'll have had Tomlin 4 years in Pittsburgh.... and only during one year did he win a playoff game. And yes, he won the Superbowl that year, but it was off of the Cowher dust. O/c, they'll let him coach in year 5 in Pitt.... and then what?

I can't wait till he gets run out of Pittsburgh. Thing of beauty!!

How can Denver get in over Pittsburgh if they are tied when Pittsburgh already beat denver I thought conference records only held up in individual divisions or if the two that are tied and had nothing else to compare which team is better since Steelers already beat Denver that makes Steelers the better team right?

there will probably be numerous teams at 9-7, only Jacksonville looks to have a better conference record and the probably lose to NE.

I could see the Steelers, Denver and Baltimore all finishing 9-7, and though I might be wrong about this, I think the Steelers are the odd team out in this scenario. Don't ask me why or how; my head hurts just thinking about the damn tiebreaking factors.

Browns are now transformed with 2 wins In a row and will not be no push over but that's only a FACTOR if the JAGS get past the PATS.
