The biggest challenge is balance. Betting will test character, mind, and feeling, and the gamblers who go off the deep end are the ones who lose their balance.

Lack of balance...
So is greed.
So is any type of mental aggravation. Or addiction.
Staying centered is the hardest thing. Isn't that why we gamble? To learn that more quickly.![]()

I think many Gamblers suffer from this especially after a bad run, you become 'scared' to place a bet in case this is a loser as well![]()
I also think that Gamblers suffer more with mood swings then the average guy (I do anyway)

IGNORANCE. Even some very sharp people make fundamental and stupid mistakes. Call it emotional betting, call it bad money management, call it whatever you want, it's plain and simple ignorance. Then again, that's what keeps the whole thing going.

Money management. If you can't find winners you will lose eventually, but even if you have winners and can't stick to correct betting amounts you will go down anyway. Not to mention that now the risk of not getting paid even if you win is higher than ever.

1. poor money management
2. chasing
3. betting out of boredom or because a game is on tv
4. listening to other people without knowing if they are sharps
5. not doing their homework

Forcing yourself to bet on a game because you need recreation or excitement or to recover losses from a bad beat which is called steaming in poker. It's sort of like being horny and looking up gals in your little black book and you pick the closest one who's not busy not taking into consideration that better looking one's will go out with you next week if you care to wait.By that I mean a good gambler has intuitions, gut feelings, etc. when you see and hear about a game that's a mortal lock. These kinds of games can come along 3 times a week or you might have to wait a month sometimes but it seems like you win 85% of the time on them.
When you win some free bet and you want to hurry to use the free bet because it's found money and you think the book won't pay you if too many people win on the freebie you litteraly pick the games out of a hat.It seems you are lucky to win 35% of these bets.
The moral of the story is,the worst thing you can do as a gambler is to bet just for the sake that you need an entertainment fix or gambling buzz for quick satisfaction fulfillment.
