    Default Anyone Know About Sponsoring Non Americans?

    Someone asked me to sponsor her to come to usa, basically all she needs is an american, I do not have to take her in with me.

    What is this all about? Legally what do I have to do and am I responsible for her and husband with money and other things?

    You don't want to do this unless it's someone you are planning to marry. You have to certify that you have enough income to support her. She can't apply for any public benefits, or they come after you.

    Are you sponsoring one or two people? Both her and her husband? I'm not sure if I'm right about this, but I could have sworn I saw on a news tv show that it means that if they cannot find work for the first few years, you are responsible for them. In other words, they cannot apply for public assistance for a few years (5 years? 10 years ?, ???), should they be unemployed. You would have to support them.

    I could be wrong.
