One challenge for SBR is how to control the heavy volume in Players Talk. Good topics are on page two in about an hour. Sometimes I just can't find an interesting thread because its on page 5 or so. Any ideas?

What else needs to be changed or added?

Easy solution if you have guys posting 30 threads in an hour and they are all just separate bets on games pull them all together into one thread...

Maybe a warning for doing it first time...if they do not listen dump all threads into PZ.

it is what it is. the users make player's talk what it is. I would think that too much effort from SBR to "change" things, would only backfire.


if you are concerned about missing "interesting threads" than you've have to have mods s-link such "interesting" threads to another section, where people that maybe wanted to sift through the drama and bs could go directly to, to read these threads. Problem is, who determines what is interesting?

if it gets to page 5... the majority of users did not deem it interesting

Stop allowing JJ\Sammy to start 20 threads an hour, a thread limit per day seems reasonable.
Stop allowing members to have 2 and 3 different screen names.
Let the mods move the crap to PZ a lil quicker. More "government" seems like a scary suggestion but I agree there's just too many worthless threads.

just bumped an example of a good way sammy posts threads, and a bad way from last saturday... somtimes he will put 8 games out there, that could all be in the same thread

Thats why its considered Players Talk.

Players Talk is an area where people steam off from bad beats or simply to see whats new with other posters.

If you have an interesting Thread with over 100 hits ... it should be kept in Main Page.

If you want to talk about sports and how to profit from them, go to subforums, thats the whole idea why they were created.

Restrict the amount of threads an individual poster can start in PT daily. Put a quota of 5 per day or 1 every 3 hours. I really don't care what JJ is doing every day. I don't care if he eats, drinks or sleeps with trannies.

maybe have two different categories of playertalk: one for relevant posts and one for useless posts on stupid topics. you can make it self policing. those who posts in the wrong categories can have points rights suspended.

Could revisit the idea which has been kicking around since the early days of having a General Discussion sub-forum for topics that have nothing to do with sports and betting (like movies, hot chix, music etc.) It doesn't seem right to move them to the Private Zone when there is nothing objectionable about them.

Failing that, I would say just leave it alone.

Personally I would like it if the software would block topics from people I have on Ignore. It blocks their posts but I can still see their topics. Not seeing those would tidy things up a lot for me.

A lot of very good ideas. I like this one I think. And several posters mentioned combining threads from the same poster as well as limiting the amount of threads one guy can start.

Players Talk is pretty entertaining now but to me it is at the max in volume and volume keeps increasing. Keep the ideas coming. It would be better to plan a solution now then wait until PT is simply over run.

IMO Pavy and G's suggestions sound good! Some sort of limit on threads started a day would probably help out? Also picks really shouldn't made in PT (sports forums have less viewers so posters put them here) so putting the picks in one thread might also help out?

Finally, if SBR John is asking about this, I don't think SBR is urging certain posters to constanting keep posting to make the numbers look good? Some people might think that but this request here says otherwise.

When I come to the Players Talk, I don't want to see threads about Joe's system plays or about what side everyone is on for the Charlotte - Atlanta basketball game. I'm hear to read up on what's going on in everyday life, what everyone is doing with their winnings, Information in the gambling world (UIEGA), etc. Basically a general discussion forum.

I would like to see more activity to the selective sports forums on a daily basis and create a sub-forum for the wanna-be touts who post their picks for free. The CFB forum is a ghost town in the off-season ditto to the MLB forum. That's my 2-cents.
