Default Customer service - MatchBook & BetJam

I've had a couple phone conversations with both these companies, so not much experience with either, but so far not impressed. Do any of you think the customer service with Matchbook and Betjam is poor to mediocre at best?? I'm one of the multitude that has been using Sportsbook.com for several years, got screwed and now looking for new books to invest. Based on all the positive postings around here regarding MatchBook and BetJamaica, I decided to call them and ask about deposits, withdrawals, account setup, etc... First off, I had a difficult time understanding both CS reps because of thick accents, but we ultimately worked through it and understood each other. More importantly though, I got the feeling that they could give two sh*ts about me as a potential customer and getting them to elaborate or explain anything was like pulling teeth. I didn't hear one single "thank you", "sir", "please" or "how can I help you" throughout the conversation. Hell, I at least get that much from the kid up the street at the Taco Bell. I realize every book has its pros and cons, but if I'm going to hand over thousands of my hard earned cash to someone, I guess I would at least like to hear a "thank you" once in the conversation. Maybe I'm just old school and expect way too much from these people. Ultimately, I guess I'm worried if they treat me with a "take it or leave it" attitude now, what will it be like if there's ever a disagreement? I don't know. Maybe I should be the one thanking them for taking my action during these trying times. Maybe a sportsbook that PAYS is all that really matters. I was also thinking about calling Heritage. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Surprised you got that kind of response from BetJam, they're supposed to target recreational players.

I use Bet Jam and think their customer service is top notch. The majority of the customer service ladies are great. There are one or two that I've had a similiar experience. You thank them for what they did and they don't even respond. It kind of pisses me off. Not to mislead anyone. It probably happens 1 out of 20 calls. I think the name is Allyson.

I feel a little better now... 'cause I'm 99% sure that was the exact chick I spoke with at BetJam (Allison). I think the one at Matchbook was Theresa maybe. But that's exactly what I'm talking about - say thanks to them and get no response. It just felt weird the whole conversation. Maybe I'll call them back and see if I can talk with somebody else. Thanks.

Do you really have to call them at all? I hope you're not tying up the customer phone lines asking questions that are already answered on their site's FAQs. Seems like the phone should only be used if you have a major problem. If you're just thinking about opening an account there and asking stupid newb questions, you should just e-mail your questions and wait for a response. Matchbook will probably answer your newbie questions that you e-mail them within a day. Otherwise you're just tying up the phone lines for somebody else who actually needs it and wasting everyone's time.

SportsFanta - I'm trying to figure out how to wire thousands of dollars into their accounts and it's not easy with this hypocrite congress. So, if that's being a newbee and keeping them from taking care of your needs, I feel pretty good now. Thanks dude!

Sorry dude. You have a good reason for using the phone customer service then. Bank wires really require that you get all the information exactly right. Note that Matchbook does wire deposits but NOT wire withdrawals. If I'm wrong about that, you can correct me by posting in this thread.

edited for spelling mistake now (to NOT)

Dude, he is entitled to call and ask any questions he wants. You shouldn't make anyone feel bad. Thats what customer service is there for. Why the fk do you care if someone calls customer service? Guys listen, anymore only call customer service if you have a MAJOR PROBLEM. Couldn't get a deposit in on time because a book was busy?

Are you sure you have your priorities straight? Just wondering, because there are plenty of sweet talkers out there that will prove very unreliable.

My suggestion would be to e-mail them your list of questions. That way you have it all on paper, and can fall back on your records if there should be a misunderstanding in the future.

Darkhorse - regarding priorities, as I stated at the end of my post, maybe paying is all that really matters.

There certainly is a place for CS, but your initial post gave the appearance that CS was of similar importance as financial reliability.

Mediocre customer service isn't a red flag to me. Lies and scheming agents are.

that is why people should move all their money away from sportsbook.com. that site is going down.

Agreed. Lies and payment issues are most important. I've heard great things on both counts with Matchbook and BetJam.

I think I've called customer service 3 times total over the last 7 years of wagering, so not that much... but you never know when one of those few times may be worth several thousand dollars.

If you have a cheque withdrawal problem, would you want to have problems reaching customer service because someone is asking questions that is already answered in the FAQ on the website. This is especially true if the merchant has a low customer rep staff. Is it necessary to tie up customer service lines for stupid questions covered in a sites FAQ? I thought that was what OP did. I WAS WRONG.

If a book is understaffed, that is there own problem. It should be a sign not to play. There have been many times where I called and got bonuses that were better than listed on the website.

I don't know anything about Matchbook....but Betjm is one of the top 3 books left and their customer service is elite. Very friendly, receptive, and professional.

Yes the accents can be hard but beggers can't be choosers right now. The industry is in shambles. You have about 10-20 books to choose from....really closer to 10. Stick with a book like Betjamica and you won't lose an ounce of sleep for your money. They are as good as it gets...

This guy Scotty you refer to may be all that and a bag of chips, but unfortunately he's NOT the person answering the customer service calls. Nevertheless, I invested with them yesterday due to all the positive postings. Thanks.

Does it normally cost you the same amount to withdraw by ** as it does to deposit and does betjamaica give you 1 free withdrawl per month for that?

Yeah Betjm gives you one free withdrawal a month of either a check sent by Fedex (comes in like 2-3 business days) or a wire. There are other withdrawal methods...contact them for more info on the alternative methods.
