Angry Mets need to get rid of Omar Minaya!!!!

Couldn't pay Lackey enough, so he signs with the Red Sox.

Couldn't get a deal done for Roy Halladay, he seems to be going to rival Philadelphia!

Yankees are making trades on the other side of town!

What is Omar doing???? Nothing! Sitting on his fukkin hands!

Why can't he get a deal done? He always waits for free agents to fall through instaed of going out to get them!

He waited to long to make offers to Bay and Molina! and even if they end up signing, big deal! They aren't anything great anyways!!!!

Fukk you Omar, you are destroying this team! All you are worried about is your fellow fukkin hispanics! You cant even get a good manager!!!

Who cares about Bay? It would be nice but they needed to get Halladay or Lackey!

There's something wrong with Lackey. The Angels didn't even bother making him a serious offer. It's supposedly scaring some teams off.

If Omar has to go to 5 years for Bay, which is what it will probably take, then I'd prefer he sign a younger, and better Matt Holliday.

It's not about $$$$ for the Mets. Lackey had no interest in playing for them. It's not like the Mets don't spend money they just don't spend it wisley. They think Bay will be more productive in Citi Field which is why they're going after Bay instead of Holliday.

As a Yanks fan I can see the Yanks swooping in and grabbing Holliday much like they did with Tex last year.

I made this thread several times.

First off, he replaces the retard Randolph the Reindeer with Manuel. What have they done? They both swooned the Mets like bitches at the end of season. And last year they weren't even in a position to swoon.

It will be more of the same. Good thing they aren't surgeons or all their patients would be dead.

Lackey is always good for spending a 4-8 weeks on the DL a year. He's a solid pitcher when he's pitching though. The Mets are stuck with a lot of bad contracts and have their hands tied more than you think they do. They aren't a one year fix team. I believe they are even still paying Mo Vaughn and/or Bobby Bonilla.

Omar was great for the franchise when we first got him. He got us some great guys and really shaped this team. Almost everything he did turned to gold. Pedro, Beltran, Delgado, Santana, Wagner, K-Rod etc. As well as a lot of great role players who panned out, Chavez, Sanchez, Cora. But, he seems to know have to much of an attachment with some of these guys (4 year deal for a washed up Castillo, re-signing Perez) although that Francouer trade was a great one. The Lackey thing was interesting because he said no one expected a deal to be done that quick and that he was going to make the call and then found out what happened. He is better then what we had but he can be doing much better. He is moving in the right direction now.

-Offer out Molina which would be a great addition defensivley and offensivley.
-Offer out to Bay. Would add great depth to lineup.

However, now with Lackey, Halladay, and Lee all in new places Mets need something other then just Pineiro if they are lucky enough to get him. I think the one name the Mets may be able to get a deal for his King Felix. M's now have Lee and Snell and Felix is a free agent next year and will probably want more then the M's will be willing to dish out assuming Lee signs the extension they are talking about. I think we can get Felix without having to give up Reyes/Wright. Although, the pickings are slim the Mets will be competitive with the team this year if they can stay healthy. Then they can splurge next year when potential free agents are Pujols, Mauer, Lee, Felix, Beckett, Webb, and Chris Young.

The off-season can still be salvaged however if Molina signs and the Mets can scoop up Bay or Holliday. Then add Pineiro.

    1. Reyes
    2. Castillo
    3. Beltran
    4. Wright
    5. Bay/Holliday
    6. Francouer
    7. Molina
    8. Murphy?

Yeah I think they're paying Bonilla something like $1M for 20 years... Something like that.

Mets are going to be bad for a couple years before they can turn it around.

They're not going anywhere in 2010, so I wouldn't bother with any big free agent signings this offseason. I wouldn't hamstring myself into potentially bad contracts this season; they're going be uncompetitive no matter who you add. I'd wait to spend the big money the following offseason, with a deeper free agent class. For this year, I'd just look to sign some relatively cheap reclamation projects for 1yr deals if I could - Sheets, for example - and hope things pan out. If not, no big loss. If they all work out, maybe you contend a little bit in '10.

But nothing will really change for the better until Minaya is out of there.

In my opinion you add Hudson, Bay, and Molina this year. See what Pelfery, Maine, Perez, and Neise pan out to. Next off-season plan to splurge on the big named startes Beckett, Webb, Felix, Lee.

Hopefully have a 2011 roster looking like:
    1. Reyes
    2. Hudson
    3. Beltran
    4. Wright
    5. Bay
    6. Francouer
    7. Molina
    8. Murphy?

    1. Santana 2. Felix 3. Piniero 4. Pelfery 5. Maine

    1. Reyes=never lives up to potential. he should have OBP of .400+, but never does
    2. Castillo=washed up, too many errors lately, no power at all!
    3. Beltran= solid on D, chokes in the clutch, never hit for high avg. anyways
    4. Wright= solid player, but has changed his swing and cant hit HR's anymore
    5. Bay/Holliday= dont have them yet
    6. Francouer= good player since joining the Mets. still a ?
    7. Molina= would be great on D, but thats it (better than they had though)
    8. Murphy= why do people like him? hits .250 and makes too many errors

Your right the Mets are fukked. My dad and I have always called them the hapless Mets. I am a Braves fan so we laugh at there gross failures especailly considering the money that franchise is wroking with. Just can't get shit right. Like last year... Not antying up for Derek Lowe and then settling on Oliver I walk the based loaded Perez for I believe 3yrs and 36 mil contract. He isn't what I even consider a big leaguer right now. Granted Lowe did not live up to his contract first year in Atlanta last year, but he would have been the staff ace and provided the Mets with stability since Johan went down. The thing with Derek Lowe is you will have to beat him. He will not beat himself by walking people.

Last, but not least... That minya character is a mental midget. Another monority giving a position of power. I am not sure ownership is much better. The Mets do have one good thing going for them. They are rich with money playing in the large market they enjoy. I think the Mets need a complete change in the whole organization.... Need new ownership, new GM, new coach, and keep Wright and Santana. Other than Wright and Santana everything else in the organization is expendable.

I am more of a glass half full New York sports fan. Not easy to find a lot of those in these parts. I think the Mets have potential. If things pan out right they will be competitive this year and put themselves in a position to make a splash next year. If they can figure out who is going to play LF, 1B, and C and add a pitcher or two over the next two years they will be a championship caliber team while David Wright and Reyes are getting into their prime. Remember those guys are very young! Reyes was in the league at 18. He wasn't allowed to drink when the Mets clinched the East! He is going to develop more pop as the years go on and he will learn to take walks. Wright is great for the team, all the Mets really need is a big power hitter to anchor the line up and I think Francouer is back to his old self when he was good in Atlanta. Lets give Minaya credit where it is due. He turned them from a team signing the likes of Mo Vaughn, Jeromy Burnitz, Roberto Alomar, and trading Kazmir for Zambrano and Benson. Honestly, the down hill slide for Minaya started years back when Duaner Sanchez got into that taxi accident. He had to panic and traded Nady for Hernandez and Oliver Perez. If that doesn't happen the Mets probably still have Nady and don't have the burden of trying to explain to Oliver he needs to throw the ball over the plate. After those things went wrong it ****ed up our outfield, bullpen, and staff. Sanchez was a lights out set up man that year and hasn't recaptured his old stuff since that accident.

I agree with all you said. But he has yet to find a real manager and it seems that he cant get a good deal/trade to happen. He got the ball rolling a few years ago by throwing the money at free agents. Santana fell through the cracks luckily.
Lets face it, they were one Beltran choke job away from winning the World Series, and he was Omars big sign. The key guys are Wright and Reyes who came up through the system, Omar had nothing to do with them.
This will be the make or break year. If we break, we need to get rid of Omar, Manuel, and whoever else aint producing including Reyes.

If Minaya wants to salvage the fanbase he will do the following:

-Make sure Molina signs that contract.
-Stop playing games with Bay and go get Damon for a shorter deal.
-Make a splash with a trade bringing in Adrian Gonzalez.
-Atleast make headlines attempting a trade for Felix letting him know we want him when he leaves next year. Next year either Lee or Felix will leave the M's. The Mets need to pursue whichever one it it is.
    -Scoop up Piniero.
-Look into Derek Low. Apparently the Braves will settle for prospects for him rather then the right handed power bat they wanted.
    -Get Orlando Hudson.
    -Look into Wang

Being realistic, lets say this year they end up going cheap and grab Damon, Hudson, Molina, LaRoche, Garland, and Piniero. A lot of players yes but all in their reach. Take Pelfery,Martinez, and another prospect or two and offer them up for Adrian Gonzalez mid season. Then in 2011 they splurge and get either Lee/Felix.

I love seeing rosters so we would look like:
    C- Molina
    1B- Gonzalez
    2B- Hudson
    SS- Reyes
    3B- Wright
    LF- Damon
    CF- Beltran
    RF- Francouer

    1. Santana
    2. Lee/Felix
    3. Pineiro
    4. Garland
    5. Neise/Maine/Perez

    Closer- K-Rod

That team can win a title. They have enough to get to the playoffs and you dont want to face say Santana/Felix twice in a series.

Use the 20 million dollars a year they get for naming rights from citigroup and sign Holliday 5 years 100 million.
