Default Cliff Lee to Seattle, Halladay to Philly

The Phillies are in agreement on a three-team trade with the Mariners and Blue Jays to acquire star pitcher Roy Halladay, SI.com has learned.
Sources say Halladay will agree to a contract extension to complete the deal.
It's likely Cliff Lee would wind up with the Mariners in the deal.

Interesting trade if it goes through. Need to hear more about which players are going to Toronto before I put much faith in trade umors this time of year.

Rather have Lee personally. Lee has proven to be a winner.

I agree. That is surprising considering how much they spent on Lee. Maybe they consider it a defensive move to keep certain teams from getting him.

What's weird is that Lackey seemed to pitch well against the Red Sox in the playoffs, but his track record in the regular season at Fenway ain't too good.

sad day for Blue Jay fans. Cut alot of payroll with Halladay, and last season with Rios and Rolen, but that Wells contract is a killer

Doc doesn't want to be in toronto and has made it clear he will not entertain a trade once the season starts. So for the jays to get anything he has to be moved now. I just hope they get something of value and not jack shit.

That threat is completely bullshit though. If they kept him and came up with a trade with a contender in July you really think he's going to say no?

If I was in the market for a SP Lackey by far and away is who I'd go for, but that's just me.

Phils tried to negotiate an extension with Lee and they could not come to agreement looked like Lee wanted to ride out and hit Free Agency. Think they have a prelim contract xt with Haladay, he is in Philly for a physical so it is beyond the rumor stage.

The phills just got a little better. Halliday owns the american league. I can only imaginne what he will do to the nl east

Cliff Lee looked like garbage in the American League this year...he was nothing more than an average pitcher. He was great for Philly and last year with the Indians but which Cliff Lee are the Mariners getting?

Makes sense. Seattle has a loaded farm system. They're one of the few teams with the goods to give what Toronto wants. From what it looks like, Seattle basically gave Phillippe Aumont for Lee. This is a sad day for the Jays but it looks like a pretty good deal for all teams involved.

I hope you were drunk when you typed this. How could you say without laughing that you would rather have Lee instead of Halladay?

Cliff Lee is an idiot. I never understood players with that mentality. You were so close to a world series and now over money you are going to go rot in Seattle? For the next decade Philly, Boston, and New York are going to be dooking it out. Boston adds Lackey and you get rid of Cliff Lee? Cliff should have been more understanding and Philly shouldnt have been so dumb to not make another offer. Cliff and Halladay would have been something to watch. Because Beckett, Lester, Lackey, and Dice K are gonna bring it.

they are saying the deal is agreed on as long as Halladay signs an extension, 3 year $60 million. Looks like Roy is leaving alot of cash on the table. He could get a 6 year deal after this season easy, if he gets hurt in a year or 2 could cost him tens of millions. But thats how bad he wants out of Toronto

Lee was great in the playoffs and World Series. Phils would have kept him had he agreed to a reasonable deal.

Thats what Im saying Lee is a dumbass for not being reasonable. Him and Felix will be great, but I dont see Seattle being competitive like the Phillies are.

Don't teams put a higher premium on left-handers anymore? This trade is a little puzzling to me.

Finally Doc got away from this crappy Blue Jays team...good trade for Philly, Lee is obviously an ace but Doc is still a tick better.

If the team he was talking about was Philadelphia, what the hell is the difference. Its like someone from Chicago saying pack a jacket to someone going to New York.

Plus baseball is played in the summer, so cold weather isn't a factor in any of those cities. Get it? Duh.

Fall weather sets in October, like any city in the North East. September is fine. hummm u fail. I don't care either way.

Every team benefits but no consensus where all the prospects are going.
