    Default OT: Is it really so bad down there in Motown?

    There can certainly be some dips at times in RE prices but 10fold in last couple of years this is too much... It could take centuries to recover.
    Any Motowners here? How's the general feeling down there?

    I live in the downtown area, in some of the new lofts. As soon as you get to the suburbs it turns bad real quick. Houses for 30k I would say that high is your looking for the cheapest. Detroit normally sells houses for $1.00 to people that will guarantee they will fix them in X amount of years. Since the auto industry is deflating and thats the bulk of Michigan jobs its really hurting the area. That and the influx of people w/o jobs and nothing to do with their time. As anyone can see its just a recipe for crime.

    I grew up right around Detroit.....use to head downtown a lot for Tiger games. Maybe that is why I turned out to be a tough S.O.B.
