With pointbet recently gone,numerous other books either slow paying or not paying,can more be done to prevent players money dissappearing into the sunset when these scam books decide they have creamed off enough money.When you book a holiday with a travel agent,they are ABTA registered is it not possible to implement a similar thing with bookmakers so as to safeguard players money,any book not registered would therefore be classed as a no go.Any thoughts.

I don't think there is a lot the private sector can do to certify bookmakers in a meaningful way. Take SBR as an example. We have an office in Costa Rica and still good information on these books is hard to extract. Unlike your travel agency example, this is a below the radar industry.

I would agree there has to be a better way. Players that do not know about forums or this site are at a very high risk to scams.

The answer is some kind of real regulation as well as player advocate sites. Unfortunately the largest market, the USA market, has a government that would rather go after the industry and not worry about protecting their gaming citizens. Until that reverses there is little that can be done.

No i agree there isn`t a lot the private sector can do,it`s purely down to the bookmakers on this one.Reguardless of the situation in the US there isn`t a lot you could do over there.Yes your site helps as reguards to scam books,but the problem with most of them is they offer such good odds as like point bet.There are enough good books in and around the UK like stan james,WH,lads,coral etc etc that could instigate something and force other smaller books to toe the line.I personally would not know where to start with something like this but as you have contact with these books then you are in a better position to try.

If we could get it legalized and regulated in the US, you cold have "honest auditing". Look at the Las Vegas sportsbooks - when is the last time someone got stiffed by one of them (I think there was a slowpay 10 years ago, but never an outright stiffing).
