Default NHL high scoring earlier in the season trend

I'm always late in the game on a trend and it's over now but it seems like a person would have done well going with the over's earlier on in the NHL season. The new rules implemented by the NHL where they took out the red line, limited goalie zones, made the goalie pads smaller and added shootout tie breakers caused the scores to inflate. Now the defense and bookies have caught up with the rules and have modified strategy where the scores seem to have come down and over and unders have gone up a wee bit.

A person has to prepare ahead of time before these opportunities present themselves.

Another good trend for me over the years was to go with your Duke's and other blue chip NCAA BB teams the first few games of the season when they played against tiny non confrence teams. No matter how outrageous the spread was,the majority of the time the ranked team seems to cover. It's not a matter if they can cover,it's a matter if they want to cover it seems. Some coaches want to do well for the rich alumni who place bets who donate under the table booster cash to attract recruits.hehe!

Actually, most games went under early season. We were talking about the fact that some teams were not taking full advantage of the new rules and the inefficiency of Power Plays while bookies had their lines at 6. Books are now making it difficult to pick Under at 5 or Over at 7.5 but you end up with those 3 goals and 10 goals games.

But I'm taking notes about that CBB trend. Thanks

the new penalty rules when it comes to power plays are just flatout wrong. under the new rule, they will allow you a 5 on 2 power play. you tell me thats not gonna hurt/help an over/under bet. with the new rules now, you have to cap the teams penalty minutes on top of everything else.

At the begining I played unders exclusivly. Needless to say, I mainly play overs now. The new rules definatly make the game higher scoring.

I dont play totals in the NHL. Just moneylines. Because the value of the pucklines are gone , since they are 1.5 either way now.

As far as that NCAAB trend. Duke didnt cover their first game this season.

Dan, that's impossible. You can't have less than 3 skaters on the ice. I've read the new rules when they came out. Haven't checked again but I would have remembered such a rule and would have seen it in some games. This would be bigger than any other rule. But they wouldn't have only 2 players on the ice, which is one of the reasons they rejected the 3-on-3 5-minute OT.

Maybe one player was slow coming back? Did the Wild score? lol

max, i watched the game myself. and it was a 6 on 2 advantage for the last 1:14 of the game. because the wild was down a goal.

NP max, the only reason i even knew the answer. was because i had money on the game and watch it. was fumming because they didn't score a goal, with that type of advantage.
