The pots are set in this way to avoid teams from the same conference play each other in preliminaries. Only pot 1 is based on seeded teams based on world rankings and host team.

None of the 7 powers from Pot 1 want Portugal or France. Hopefully for my rooting imterest for Italy and the USA they get favorable draws. Like to see England go far too (luck never seems to be on their side?). Having an Italian leading you always helps!
