    Drew Hutchison

The surprise pitcher of the season starts tonight. He has a tough assignment tonight, but by years end I believe he will be the Jays best pitcher. The Jays rushed him through the minors, so he never had a chance to get hyped by most "top prospect" lists. He posted solid numbers, then had TJ surgery and was forgotten. Now he's recovered and boasting a fastball hovering in the mid 90's which is 2-3 mph faster than what he's thrown in the past with good control and K potential. Remember the name

He could be the chance for the Jays to keep up with the rest of the Al East. Good thread to mark your words on.

I like hutch too, live arm. don't see him taking down the Rays tonight on his first real start since 2012. but completely agree over the year he could be a surprise that people didn't see coming, got to keep an eye on him and see how it goes

I like hutch as well but gotta think he'll only go 5-6 innings max. Big question is do we trust the jays pen enough to bet the ml or do we go with first 5?

note his 4 pitch repertoire here

    http://www.brooksbaseball.net/outcom.../2014&s_type=2

Note how well the Rays hit those 4 pitches here

    http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.asp...ter=&players=0

The Rays are plus hitters as a team against all 4 pitches. Don't see that too often.

Tampa team total is @4 +104. Some pretty good value there

Pitch Trax, or whatever mlb's GameDay is called, had him pitching 91-93 regularly. I had heard he was mid 90's. He was missing his spots most of the night too.

Gotta love the box score line but I'm still on the fence about how good he'll be. Low 90's and missing the catchers' glove can be a recipe for disaster.

Location usually returns slowly with pitchers coming back from TJ surgery

Nice thread bud......putting him second in rotation shows blue jays know his stuff is first class. Excited for him this year.

Pitched very well in ST, I was tempted to go with the jays here but I never bet on my team unless there's more to it lol

Erasmo Ramirez looked good again too. Another guy to add to the watch list.
