Default this Jets/Bills match-up makes me mental

Normally I would look at that match-up and see the Bills at home with the spread going from +1 to +3 - and I would be all over it. Maybe spread, maybe moneyline - but definitely Bills. It would be a Best Bet type situation.

But this isn't exactly a home game, is it? It's here in Toronto. Don't get me wrong, I am all for the idea of the NFL in Toronto - but what does it mean tonight? If it didn't look like such a strong play on paper I would just shrug and forget about it. But this is a Best Bet situation. Does the venue change the game from a Best Bet to just a regular bet? Does it make it a no play?

Is this really a home game for Buffalo? I guess kind of. But is it? I don't know.

    Makes me mental.

Anything involving Sanchez makes me mental. Very inconsistent, never know if he'll throw for 300 yds, 4 picks, or both

it is not a home game..definately would have more of an impact if they played in buffalo.
from living in toronto i can tell you (and also many of my friends opinons) dont care about the bills..all of us support different teams since we dont have a local one..this being said the crowd there mostly wont care for the bills and probably wont have as much of an impact on the game versus it being played in buffalo..i only know one bills fan here..and hes from buffalo originally haha..hope this helps

Last year when Buffalo played Miami in Toronto, there were quite a lot of Miami fans in attendance. So it's not a Buffalo home game in that sense.

The weather/field conditions would be totally different than Orchard Park. So it's not a Buffalo home game in that sense.

Buffalo players have to get slightly out of whatever familiar routine they use for games in Orchard Park. Their situation is not much different than the Jets players from that perspective.

I guess I am answering my own question. It is a neutral site game and no play. It just looks so good on paper with Buff looking like the home team.

It's not exactly a neutral site. The Bills are constantly rated "Canada's favourite NFL team" despite the fact they only receive significant votes in Ontario. A lot of the fans at Bills home games are from TO anyway so fans-wise it will be a home game. Really I don't see the change in venue hurting the Bills. Of the two teams, they are better suited for a game on turf. I don't love the game but the Bills are definitely worthy of a unit or two, especially if you can get a decent price at +3.

    Good luck BP.

Not arguing with you but here is some food-for-thought just to add to the discussion

Seeking to reach out to fans across Lake Ontario, Buffalo is scheduled to play a total of five contests in Toronto - one per season through 2012 - but the experiment did not begin well last year, with many in attendance supporting Miami in the Bills' 16-3 loss on Dec. 7.

"I think you're always hoping to have a little bit more of an electric atmosphere for the home team," punter Brian Moorman said. "We'll see what happens with the Jets. But obviously, we'd like for the people across the border to be Bills fans."

I guess I'm opposite of everyone on here.

    I got 600 on the Jets @ -3.

I think the Jets D will be all over Fitzpatrick, and the Bills Offense.

Then I think Thomas Jones will put up over 100yds rushing, hopefully opening up some passing against a tough bills secondary.

    Close game though for sure.

If Jets stick to running the ball and do not turn it over they will be ok. But I don't think thats what they will do. Bills +3.

I agree, even with them running the ball I believe Sanchez will find a way to turn the ball over. If they can play a mistake free game( sanchez 1 TO) I think the Jets will win. I don't see Buffalo puttin up big #'s, But if the Turnovers start rolling in by sanchez, and giving the Bills good field position it will be a LONG LONG NIGHT. Either way I'll be tuned in, for a game I normally wouldn't watch, but since it's Thursday, what else is there to do?.

If you consider it a neutral site, the Jets have to be favored. Better record (5 wins versus 4). Jets have scored 35 more than they've allowed, much better than Buff's -56.

An over-simplification perhaps but worth noting.

I am just glad that after this game, I can stop seeing the frikkin commercial they've been running for months up here with the, "And for the very first time, Terrell Owens is coming to Toronto. T.O. in T.O."

    Taking Buffalo and the points.

Jets are unsafe at any speed.

Buffalo defense has the highest interception rating in the league

Fewell is opening up the offense for Fitzie and Owens.

I watched that game last year, and no question there was a lack of energy in that place. But in the defense of fans at the Rogers center, that game was a complete snoozer. Buffalo was in the process of a gigantic collapse and Miami was ball control all over, limiting the Bills to just 22 minutes of TOP.

Although, it might be a bit of wishful thinking on my part. Toronto is one of the worst fan bases in the CFL, but I still think they love the NFL and the Bills. I'd love to see a game in Alberta or BC at some point, but the logistics just aren't as good at TO.

I agree with the first part but I'm not sure about the second. I think there are lots of folks who love the NFL but I'm not so sure about The Bills. Sure, there are some. But I have buddies who are fans of the 49ers, Dallas, Pitt, Rams, Raiders, Dolphins. None of them are going to switch allegiances just because Buffalo plays here one game a year.

Now if there was ever a Toronto team, I feel sure it would be well supported indefinitely.
