I wonder if they made Dave sign a non - disclosure agreement regarding his employment at SBR.
I'd love to have an off the record chat with Dave.

I wonder what happened...
He must really be feeling the effects of the firing now.
Seems to be getting angrier with each passing week.

Maybe Dave will have a chance to reflect on the ride home. I think in the long run he'll be better for the experience. Working at SBR isn't easy. Everyone is expected to be creative and self motivated. Lots of room to take things in your own direction but with that comes room to be distracted. I had hoped Dave would have stayed on per article but looks like he wants to keep working on his own websites.

What does this mean exactly? Can you clarify? Don't know much about the particulars of the situation, and not that it's really any of our business, but since we're still talking about it, might as well shed some light to those not in the know.

As Dave alluded to in his goodbye thread, we offered him the opportunity to continue working by providing articles/matchups/videos for SBRforum.

There it is boys! SBR doesn't treat anybody unfarily. Just like a divorce, there are always two sides to every story.
Good Luck Dave!!!!

I don't know why Dave keeps alluding to the fact that he was fired then. It seems like it was selfishness and he basically quit by refusing to agree to SBR's clause on material on other websites.
Thanks for SBR's side of the story, finally.

Dave essentially quit by writing on other websites.
Do you see NY Times columnists writing pieces for the Washington Post?

No they won't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are funny. How was your thanksgiving buddy??
There are always two sides to every story. You think every guy I fired or any company fires is a black eye???
Common you know better than that.

No, but that's because when you employ someone to create for you, you only own the material that you request to be created by them for your uses. Plenty of newspaper columnists write novels in their spare time and the owners of the newspapers understand that just by employing someone does not mean you have a controlling interest on everything that their creativity produces. SBR thought they owned Dave and mistreated him when he dared challenge that assumption.

Wow, I am glad I asked for clarification here. I am sure there is still more that we don't know. I always liked Dave. He should have stayed on. He should also seriously consider a career in disco with that fro.

A novel and a newspaper column are not one and the same. They are not competitors.
SBR and other sports-content internet sites are competitors for traffic. You are comparing apples and oranges.
Do you understand that?

I liked Dave too. I met him in Vegas. That said, a company has certain rules and regulations to follow. I don't care what job it is. YOU have to follow them. If you don't like them then you can move on.
I fully agree with what SBR does, it is them who are paying and running the show they have every right to enforce any rule they have and to do as they wish to better their company.
