Thumbs down Kobe thinks he's in same class with Wilt, MJ and Elgin

"It just feels great," Bryant said of joining Baylor, Jordan and Chamberlain. "Growing up I idolized all of them, from Wilt, to M.J. to Elgin. It's a tremendous honor to be in that same class with those guys and in the history books." -YAhoo

Come on... 50 is the new 30. If the NBA played like Rucker Park in the 90s MJ would have scored 100. Sure, he makes some great HORSE shots during the game but I didn't know a coach growing up who wouldn't make you a 12th man for taking those. Again, NBA is terrible for fans, worse for the kids, great for bettors.

I think Kobe meant that he's in the same class as far as most 60+ games. He will surpass Jordan but no one is ever going to catch up with Wilt.

It's interesting to note that after the Lakers suffered their recent bouts of injuries to supporting cast members they went from being an above-average team to one of the worst teams in the league for a few weeks. I would be curious - VERY curious - to see what would happen if Kobe went down for a time but all the other guys on the team - Kwame Brown, Odom, Walton, etc etc were good. 10 game winning streak, perhaps (a la Miami and Dwayne Wade)?

Kobe. Too much ego. He had the perfect situation with Shaq, but it wasn't good enough for him. So now he has to choose between being a leader and making others better, at which he sucks, or filling up the basket, which undermines the team. Pick your poison Kobe.

Kobe was out at the start of the season. Lakers were winning.

    Wilt stats were so inflated

Kobe probably 2nd to Jordan for offensive force

Actually he compares to Baylor pretty well, although they are different players. Wilt was a great stats guy, and a great volleyball player, but not as great as people think he was. I'd put Kobe third in that group behind MJ and Wilt but ahead of Baylor. As for the game having changed, now people play defense even in the regular season.

No worries, as Lebron will completely overshadow this chump soon enough.

Lebron is not good enough off the dribble like Kobe, aslo not a natural shooter.

Lebron is just better overall. He may not be the explosive scorer Kobe can be, but he is a complete player. He will only get better too.

We might see Leborn average a triple double before the end of his career.
