Just figured out why my VCR was misfiring. All VCR models with the Daylight Saving Time switch programmed in won't convert now because the VCRs were made on the old DST premise in April. If you have the automatic switch, your clock will be an hour behind.

Which means the VCR clocks will jump ahead an hour in April, so you gotta watch for it again.

VCR's have been outdated years ago. Slew if I were you I would have moderator delete this thread very fast as it shows signs of some sort of gambling problem. I am open about mine so I can mention my 74 van that I drive and actually equate my van with your vcr..yeh it looks that bad right now for you.

I threw all my vcr's out years ago, I did not want to be seen with one. With all the taping available now ith Tivo, DVR's ect this reader is scratching his bald head why anyone would have a vcr.

I have a VCR/DVD combo...it's very handy and has been reliable now for almost 5 years. And since I get all my movies from the public library rather than renting them a number of them come in VHS format which is no big deal to me. I really never care much for the special features on DVDs anyway.

I can't see them disappearing. For movie watchers, maybe. But for sports or TV recording, it's the best and easiest way, and still cheapest.

VCRs are great! Have some old TV shows still on VHS. One caveat regarding the incoming HDTV digital revolution. Beware of the broadcast flag. With VCRs, you could pretty record whatever you want and keep it on tape for as long as you want. Digital changes this in that tv stations which don't want you to record something can set their digital stream to no record, and you're screwed. They can also set a limit on how long you can keep a recording.

I'm not kidding. Digital takes the control from the user. Don't take my word for it. Do a search on google for "broadcast flag".

With digital and the broadcast flag, you'll be wishing for the good ole days of VCRs and being able to record what you want.
