Default Would like a valid reason as to why SBR downgraded "Skybook"?

May I get a "valid" reason as to why Skybook was downgraded?

    Thank you..

Just guessing here. When Betmania started they were backed by Skybook (Not sure if I remember correctly, but I think Betmania started out at B). So now that Betmania is in slow pay, Skybook should be stepping up.

    03.13.2007 (07:00 PM CST)
BetMania (SBR rating C-): New complaints received from non-US players who are waiting two weeks for Neteller payment. SBR has verified that multiple Canadian users have received payments after waiting in excess of 2 weeks between $2500 Neteller installments. Some non-US players will be forced to wait 3 months to redeem balances under the new payout terms.

I will say this, downgrades (and upgrades) are good for their site as it give the appearance that there is constant action, thus making a need for visitor to come back to SBR. So I guess some books have to suffer to for SBR to satisfy their business model.

betmania enters SBR Rating Guide at B-
betmania is a new sportsbook from Skybook (SBR rating A-) ownership that aims to fill the reduced juice gap left after InternationalIslandSportsbook was absorbed by SkyBook last week. betmania operates independently in a separate office in Escazu, Costa Rica; and is managed by Head Linesman, Eric and Operations Director, Mike Mitchell, both formerly of Millennium Sports. The book uses ASI software. SBR will visit betmania in July.

Rick used to be a big SBR fan. Go figure.

Skybook had both a change of owenership and yet another change of management recently which I guess slipped Rick's mind. Still a good book but there is some concern about the new ownership.

Skybook wants to separate themselves from BetMania. That's fine. Skybook mgt. has done well with players under the new industry conditions. B- is still B-. And, there is a good chance Mania players will see their money trickle out despite stalling players they have no excuse for not paying.

Can we please move on? Beyond some sharper players complaining about limts, etc, there have not been any issues with BetMania, so I do not understand why they have been such a topic of discussion.
    Rick
I wouldn't feel good about this message as a player. So Mania bought/rented a position under the Rio Group, received help with processing, all while Mania was lying about who owned them? Despite Skybook ownership not willing to communicate directly on the Mania topic, SBR did its research. I visited BetMania and spoke to management on both sides. I understand where players are coming from who said they deposited last year, pre-Neteller issues, because of the message.

Still a good book but one that has had a lot of internal changes. We get a lot of private info requests on this book from their long time players. Some think we don't publish all we know. The response to them is if you are happy there we don't have a firm reason for you to leave. The other popular question is would you(meaning me) play there? Right now, the answer is no.

Another reason for the downgrade. Skybook will "no action" a legitimate line, then lock the acct and tell you you wagered on a "bad line"! What they didn't want to say was you jumped a line (steamed) on them and they made a mistake. So, they pretend it was you who did something wrong. Happened just like this 2 months ago. Not a class move by a book looking to raise it's profile among savvy players.

Sorry for posting this old thread.

I played skybook made there 5x rollover on 100% fp for 250 deposit. ( rolled it over, bet 2500.XX cents) didn't even go over the 2500 by 1 dollar. Got paid my 600.00. ( so i stayed slightly above 500, in all honestly I used the 250.00 fp pretty bad i bet cfb games as bowls were released in teasers, that I later regretted.

I got paid within 24 hours **. Was just wondering since this thread, since skybook is pretty good about paying there players why the b- still?

I'm not a savvy researcher but I do spend a little on it. To me it would seem the current owners have been in ownership for a year now. Is that not long enough to get a decent read on them? I thought the lines on skybook were not the greatest and they seem like a conservative book with there lines/ml. (hard to find a ML past -600 on that book). But they seem to pay and they seem to pay fast.

Just thought I'd see why the b- was still there?

I used to play at Skybook myself. To my knowledge, there haven't been any significant complaints in the last year.

    Same here Justin.

I too have not seen any new complaints levied against SkyBook in the past year or so. The only thing I could see possibly remotely close is that BetMania mess back in April, 2007, however their was not an affiliation between the two books at the time from my understanding.

Skybook has proven in the past year to be a B rated book. One notch above the rating they have here.

They will put you on delay which is a little bit of a bother and they stubbornly refuse to add Moneybookers for Canadian players.

Other than that, I have found their CS to be some of the best in the business and payouts are fast.

they always answer my questions whenever I called. They referred me to the same guy all the time. They didn't hassle me they didn't call me or anything else they sent me my money asap.

Honestly, I had a overall good experience, so I'm just wondering after a year why they haven't been reviewed again. I was thinking B or a B+ rating. They are currently a B- which is a tad low. That was all, I mean they have customer service that speaks english, and I never had any problems with someone not understanding my question/concerns. I just thought that all the above is hard to find.

    I like Skybook

Half point is nice, good CS, and the third reason I can't state, or the board moralists will come after me.

They took 3 downgrades last year. PureC and Kats could be right that the current B- is too low. Skybook also has some people in the industry that have had a personal ax to grind with them. Players should keep in mind this book has been around for a lot of years without any serious problems.

Skybook looks a lot better now that last year's BetMania slow-pays and affiliation to them is in the past.

I have played with Skybook for at least four years. They always upheld their end of the bargain. Their fees on w/d's are high but they are fast and you can always do a book to book transfer with theGreek or Cris for no fee from them (Cris charges, TheGreek does not).

Honestly, if they would just add Moneybookers to their banking--they would be a B+ book in my estimation.

Raise the limits you can withdraw to the ewallets and relax a little on the fees--and you have an A- book.

Seems like they are more focused on **/**. Which i'm not upset with. I'll take my money within 24 hours everytime and they deliver on that. The only exceptions is monday they tell you you might get pushed to tuesday if you call in later or mid day based on volume. But they are upfront about that.

Skybook is a solid book. Free 1/2 point on football has saved me several times over the years. However, withdrawals are expensive for US people. For my recent 4k takeout, my only two options were wire ($100 charge) or book transfer (Cris/BM or Greek). Wires are only done on Tues, so my Mon request was processed the next day and hit my account on Thurs (3 days in all).

Funny thing is that Skybook takes *************** for deposits, but won't reciprocate for withdrawals--which would save the $100 wire fee. This is my only complaint with them as they rate a B+ with me.
