Default Fishead..how about "your" thoughts on iowa this week ?

As for me ....Iowa goes into an extremely tough environment and plays Ohio State's butt off !
And that ,while being banded up pretty good going into that game .
They still are going to be bowl bound ,right ?
So their great team spirit should still be there.
So why shouldn't Iowa completely dismantle an average Minn. team, especially playing in front of those rabid Hawkeye fans?
I look for that line to jump anytime, unless Iowa has more injuries from the OS game ?
This is why I am asking our Iowa expert ,he knows this team so well you would think he was the starting QB .

Iowa will be extremely motivated for this game, has a victory will give them a 55-45 shot at participating in a BCS BOWL(Fiesta or Orange).

    Tough rivalary game..........tough call spreadwise.

Okay Fish, thanks for your input .
However I am surprised that you don't favor Iowa strongly in this game ?

That defense is still there, and the new QB will surely play even better than he did last week .
And he played pretty darn good .
And Minn. is no Ohio State ,so I figure the Hawks will crush the Gophers ,just pretty much shut them down on offense .
The line is at least 7 to 10 points lower than I expected ....?
    Can't figure that one ?

Iowa crushed this MINN squad last year, 55-0..........to close out the Metrodome once and for all for Gopher football there.

Iowa wins by 10-12 on Saturday.........I hope.

    Fishhead,

Iowa has had some problems at home this season covering the spread for some reason. With a freshman QB starting this week they could have problems. I say be careful on this game based on those injuries on offense.

Minnessota lost all three games ATS vs ranked teams this year. Minnessota scored one TD vs ranked teams on the road.

Minnesota didn't score an offensive TD at home against South Dakota St last week... They won't Saturday in Iowa

Minnesota's offense didn't score a single TD against South Dakota State last week. With that said, I'm not a big fan of betting on teams who are coming off a loss in the biggest game of the year.

If you guys are concerned, then don't play it... But by all means, DO NOT put money on Minnesota.. Every part of this team sucks

After the loss of Decker , Minny's offense has looked awful. I don't see them putting up many points.

Minnesota will not likely score more then 17 pts........your right.

Question is, can Iowa score 27+?

Fishhead I would like your thoughts on last year's game which you capped at +6.5 Minnesota. What was the final score?

Looking currently at the spread and total on this game, this is precisely what the oddsmakers have the final score being...........

    MINN 17
    IOWA 27

    Seems spot on!

    Default Hawks stomp the Gophers

Hawks roll in this one..............will be at the game............will be a laugher midway through the 3rd quarter. 35-7 Hawkeyes................defense will just be too tough this weekend for Minne and the Hawkeye offense will find the sledding easier this week as Minnesota isn't Ohio State.

Adam Robinson came back last week and looked good; he should be at full speed for this game

Iowa wins this one running away. If though Minnesota can become bowl eligible with a win, the Hawks know they have to impress the bowl selection committee with an impressive victory

Do you put stock in things like "motivation", etc? Thought you were a numbers guy.

THe odds of Iowa getting the Fiesta Bowl bid if they win are a lot higher than 55/45. I make it closer to 80/20. The only question concerning the Fiesta Bowl if Iowa wins is their opponent. Does the Fiesta Bowl go with an undefeated Boise State if Okie State defeats OU next week, or do they go with the 2 loss Big 12 team.
