Hey Dr Bob, Im a WVU student/fan and know that our stadium is often considered very hard to play at for opposing teams, as our fans are known to get wild and extremely loud...Other medium sized stadiums such as Oregon's Autzen also are considered rough places for road teams (especially in- conference foes)...Even in the NFL, I have often heard that the Steelers and say even Seattle (on good years) gain a few points on the spread simply because the fan noise and intimidation factors at their stadiums are considered to be either the loudest or most intense in the league..I cannot even imagine how loud a night game in Knoxville would be live in person and know that these massive 100G+ super stadiums would have to have some effect on the spread... Does your model address these issues and if so, how????

    Dr. Bob,

First, thank you for an excellent Saturday last weekend.

Please comment on your initial reaction/thoughts to the Colts/Ravens game and line. As soon as the line was released, I polled a few friends (some gamble, some don't) and they all guessed somewhere between Colts -3 and Colts -6.

The Colts got lucky against the Pats to say the least, but still, why would "they" hang a line like -1 out there, knowing that it would likely draw 80%+ action on the Colts.

So I guess I'd like your thoughts on the game, as well as why such an absurd line was released. And by absurd, I mean that if the goal is allegedly to gauge public opinion and set a line that draws equal bets on each side, any reasonable person knew that Colts -1 would result in very lopsided action.

Boise State it beating up on teams in many of their games. They keep winning, but they also continue to drop in BCS rankings. The BSU coach even joked that a win this weekend will probably drop their ranking again...knowing that they will need another convincing win, why wouldn't betting on Boise be a good bet at -23.5? As well as playing the Over 62? (which i could see BSU easily scoring 62 on their own)

I just can't see Utah putting up much a fight against Boise with the way the Broncos have been playing.

    I have a question -

What significance do we attach to the Jax/Buffalo game that Buffalo have just fired their coach and the line spread is so high. It takes a brave bettor to take Jacksonville on the moneyline so how much of this inflated line (in my opinion) is down to the coaching problems in Buffalo?

Is it just me or is the line of steelers -10 very low ??? Steelers will be looking to revenge their loss to the Bengals at home and have an excellent road revenge record in last 2 seasons.........the chiefs haven't shown very much strength at the passing game, rushing game or defense.... how is the line now -17 or -20 ??

Last week in the NFL saw some significant injuries to a few big fantasy players. The Falcons, Dolphins, Browns, and Seahawks are all being significantly bet against by the public and the line has either shown reverse line movement or the line has held steady. Since we as fans are so stat driven do you believe we put too much emphasis on an injury to a running back or wide receiver?
