Exclamation NCAA Tournament Contest Now Open

SBR's March Madness Bracket Contest is now open. Contestants must be registered members of SBR and signed in to the forum in order to make their bracket selections.

To make your picks, go to the NCAA Brackets Contest Forum and click on the sub-forum labeled "Make Your Bracket Selections Here" or, simply click here now if you're ready to make your picks.

NOTE: The 16-seed in the West will be the winner of Tuesday's play-in game between Florida A&M and Niagara. Contestants are allowed to select both of these teams when making their picks; and, regardless the outcome of Tuesday's play-in game, the selection will stand going into First Round play.

Click here to read about the contest prizes and rules.

I like the scoring this year using the seeding. We should have very unique brackets. I picked my teams completely different because of the point system and will likely feel a lot of pain.

I hate to be the voice of dissent but I'm actually not so big a fan of this scoring style. either. While I certainly like the idea of rewarding those players that correctly pick lower seeded teams very much, I think that the way it's implemented here is too drastic and will serve to increase volatility considerably more than it will reward picking prowess. And where skill does factor in I'd even go so far as to say that this contest is more a test of linear programming prowess than it is of handicapping ability.

Nevertheless, kudos to the big guys at SBR for offering up free money along with a novel tournament approach that's still able to (legally) include US-based players. It would have been extremely easy for SBR to limit the contest to only non-US citizens, but instead they decided to foot the bill themselves.

But maybe next year they let a game theorist design the contest rather than some "legendary" marketing genius ...

I'm pretty sure that picks, once submitted, can not be changed.

    Exclamation NCAA Contest Reminder

Posters have less than 24 hours remaining to make their NCAA tournament contest selections. The contest will close at 11:15 AM CST ... just before tipoff of the first game on Thursday.

Also, be sure to read the contest rules ... specifically the following:
    3. Only one entry per household and/or IP address.
    4. Duplicate entries and/or IP addresses will result in disqualification.
There will be no exceptions to these rules ... contestants in violation will not be eligible for any prizes.

Good luck to everyone on their brackets!

I really like this format. I submitted brackets for other contests, and they were SO BORING! This scoring makes it much more a "thinking man's game".
