Mayweather is a business man first and foremost. He'll fight Manny Pacquiao if the price is right.

  4. #4

They'll both make a shitload considering the fight will probably net over $80 million in revenue.

This would be the greatest boxing event of the last 10 years or so if it actually goes down. Hopefully Mayweather's money hungry eyes will be lit enough to accept a fight with Manny. Despite what Manny did to Cotto, I still think Mayweather would take him, but it would be great fun to watch either way.

They're pretty close. I expect the Pac/Cotto fight to draw the same or slightly better than the million PPV buys that May/Marquez drew.

I have a feeling that's what will prevent this fight. At least for a year or two, I do think it will happen eventually.

Its gonna be a great fight that i think mayweather will win. And it will be a big i told you so moment for him.

As for the drawing power, floyd is the bigger draw. He sells out arenas and has big ppv numbers including the biggest ppv of all time. Plus he is a promotion machine. He will do shows, radio spots and countless interviews. Manny gets his promotion from Roach and they hype of his performances.

DLH was the draw in that fight. He was the biggest draw in boxing history.

I wanna see it because pacman would hurt him, he's the only one fast enough to catch him....Mayweather would have to be his absolute best to win but would because he is faster and pacman has holes in his offense.

Mayweather didn't sell out the MGM Grand arena in his most recent fight (and he was being backed up by an absolutely sick undercard). Pacquiao sold the area out. Mayweather did huge PPV numbers, but I'd be willing to make a wager that Pacquiao sold more PPVs.

Pacquiao's humility and humble nature make him well liked across all nations of boxing fans, who are used to seeing the cocky idiot. That said, fans seem to love the cocky idiot too. Pacman probably gets a slightly bigger draw because his combination of talent and humbleness are rarely seen.

I expect that the PPV numbers for Pacquiao vs. Cotto will be far superior than the "buys" for Mayweather v. Marquez. The Pacquiao/ Mayweather fight wont happen unless Floyd comes to his senses (or is that cents-ses) that Manny is the draw not him.

I hope the fight happens. Boxing needs it to keep up with the growing popularity of MMA and UFC.

pac is the better draw because hes likable among all boxing fans. and hes backed by the asian crowd
mayweather is just a fading self promoter. he'll retire after this fight, if it happens.

William Hill has the line Money -200, Pac +150.

Why wouldn't it? Oscar was not at his prime..... Both of these fighters are. Plus everyone always says Mayweather always picks and chooses who he fights and the strength of the opponent has for the most part been weak. Against pacquiao, floyd will have a lot to prove. Not only all of the people who say he has fought against weaker opponents, but also to keep his unbeaten record alive.

This fight could cement Floyds place in boxing history if he were to pull it off ending his career with his biggest payout. Granted, i don't think he'll take on the fight. He has to much to lose, and it hink he knows he can lose.

IMO Pacquiao is bigger now than De La Hoya was in his prime. I deal with a lot of people in my line of work, and people are still talking about Pacquiao. People who had no idea who he was a week ago are now fans. I walk into a random room and people are talking about boxing... that almost never used to happen over the last couple years.

Without question, Pacquiao is BY FAR the bigger draw as compared to Mayweather.

Its not even close and the same can be said about the fight if it ever takes place.

Mayweather (in his prime) would still have lost to Pacquiao right now. Since he is past his prime, he's going to lose badly.

DLH was the biggest draw in boxing history. Pac right now isn't close.

Love all the floyd haters. What a joke. I'll be the first to admit, I was all over Cotto this past weekend. I was VERY impressed by Pac, totally underestimated him, didn't think he was big enough or strong enough to win at this weight. That being said, Floyd is the best I've ever seen. Will not be overwhelmed by Pacmans speed and he's the best counter puncher ever. Pacman will not be able to recklessly pursue floyd like he did Cotto and many others. Huge fight, Huge draw, bigger than DLH, boxing is back for 1 night. Floyd wins, cements himself as best pound for pounder ever, can't wait.
