You can't win in gambling...
There is a reason that they make millions off of losers. They have the edge always. You can scalp sure, you can be a pro and dedicate your entire life to it and maybe go 51.5%. Pros here making nice livings like Nicky, Fish, jj, amongst others, sure. It boils down to them though having no life. They don't go out, banged up, jjgold hasn't seen a Saturday night out in 16 years. It takes a toll.
My question though, with odds being 50/50, how does everyone happen to lose?
Sure I will have the banged up fukks hopping in here telling me I don't know what I am talking about blah blah fukkin blah. They are wealthy off of gambling etc. Unreal. I am seasoned in the industry, I know what goes on, most are like Brock Landers.
And if you're wondering my YTD figures are
Record: 226 - 201 - 9
Percent: 52.93 %

You're an exception. Some get that taste of blood and crave more and end up with nothing. Archie, what would we be doing right now if we weren't compulsive gamblers? The 15k times you posted, what would you have been doing? My 9k, what would I be doing? Sometimes I ask if I am spinning my wheels. I should bury my PC all together and walk away.

The only way to win is to bet the numbers not the teams. Most of us bet for action or for entertainment. The few that win long-term, win because they put the time in, and are selective.
Warren Buffett said "The stock market is a no-called-strike game. You don't have to swing at everything--you can wait for your pitch. The problem when you're a money manager is that your fans keep yelling, 'Swing, you bum!'
Buffett's comments apply just the same to gambling.

everyone happens to lose because of juice. If you hit 50% on the season, but paid at -110 every game, then the juice will be killing you. you'd need to hit 55% to break even.

13k out of the 15k, i'd be needing to be in front of a computer typing somthing anyways.... but the thrill from betting an nfl team on tuesday when you think the line is lowest, lasts for 4-5 days.
its all relative, not many here are slaves to their computers, some are..... I enjoy the breaks from real life work needs, since I'm my own boss and don't have to look over my shoulder

Very true...
Also, when the line is Pho +7.5 and the score is 121-102 LAL, you can't cap a defeat that large. The is uncappable.
NBA this season thus far has been a debacle. Lines all way off.
NHL season long debacle.

You know what beats it? Seeing your children grow up. Seeing your bills paid on time, not hiding anything from family. Not sneaking into the bathroom when your in-laws are present.
Sammy, most don't make money off of gambling. We would all just quit life and gamble our balls off and buy the world if that were the case. We gamble because its a "gamble" we gamble for the unknown, the rush, the possibilities.

Yeah, when i get ahead, i start to handicap less seriously, and end up losing my profits usually.
The juice takes its toll when you bet big. You win a huge bet and you only really win a lot less than you bet, then you lose another big one, and then you lost all that.
But yeah, it's tough. You have to be a real degen and chill in the books all day every day for 12-13 hours and do it, and then its still tough to get ahead.
Plus you're solid bets can get buried from your fun bets. So, its tough to win.

One of lifes great mysteries for sure. I find it amazing that gamblers can go on unlimited 4-16 runs (on 50/50 bets) yet 16-4 runs are so elusive.
No doubt gambling can be a frustrating activity.

I tried the "square" or straight way of living but inevitably got bored silly and returned to the degenerate way of life.
It definitely has its ups and downs, more downs than ups but thats what makes the ups feel so good.

It's an addiction. We gamble because of the "feeling". We don't gamble to get rich. If you think you're getting rich you're kidding yourself pal. You're getting hood rich if anything.

Duece, i disagree. Just because you turn a profit or make money gambling doesn't mean you are a wizard and sportsbooks are an atm. But you can still get some quick cash and build a bankroll to get you through months. I was rollin from july until recently off sports betting, now i've cooled off and am working a bit.

So, there you go, i won my lakers second half bet. I knew they would cover +.5 -115, because of nights and nights of chilling in a book watching these games and capping it. Its a lot of time i guess wasted, but its still cool to be good at this.

I asked the question in post #1...
Why is it that more gamblers are -50% rather than +50% when in reality it's a 50/50 game. Disregard juice.
