Interesting thread! After reading all of this I think I might run for the hills.. LOL. Most of the material the pro's gave here I have heard of, but with others collaborating it really hit home. One guy said it best and it especially pertains to me. When I do run well and everybody does here and there you have a tendency to change what was working for you. I get more aggressive and greedy. I want to punish the books. This mentality is very dangerous as i have wiped clean a many of profits with this formula. Without money management you don't stand a chance. I am a serious player, but no professional. There are times when I make way more money gambling than I do working for a living, but I cannot sustain any success day in and day out. I don't think it would be as fun as avertised if I had to pick winners for a living and manage my money. I have been in this for over 11 years now, but I still make elementary mistakes due to lack of discipline and also knowing I don't have to have the money. To be quite honest I have pissed away way more profits than I probably ever collected. The game is tough without a doubt. There is so much to overcome rather than the -110 juice an any veteran knows that's enough to keep you in the hole. The main thing for most of us to overcome is ourselves and that includes me.

Stick to the league/sport you know the best, follow your money management plan, play maximum 2-3 bet/day and most important, DON'T BE GREEDY!!

Create some rules and follow... This year there is no doubt I finish up very nicely. I have a list of rules I follow... Only violated once this year and won...so not bad...

One of lifes great mysteries for sure. I find it amazing that gamblers can go on unlimited 4-16 runs (on 50/50 bets) yet 16-4 runs are so elusive.

No doubt gambling can be a frustrating activity.

It isn't a mystery to me at all. Some day guys will realize that these bad calls from officials and bad play calling by coaches have a lot to do with cheating. The problem is that these athletes are ur hero's. There are corrupt athletes, coaches, and Refs littered all over sports when there is gambling involved. These crooks go hand and hand with the leagues and the linesmakers. You will see what i mean this week with that crook Carson Palmer. Watch how all of a sudden he forgets how to play against a pitiful Oakland team. That is how you beat these thieves. You have to know ur crooks. Why else would guys get the choice and be losing at an alarming rate when they have the choice? Yeah yeah i know the pathetic argument on how athletes make to much money to fix games. They fix them because they are told to. It is a billion dollar industry. Ah why am i trying to help guys who think we went into Iraq to help those people? People in general are nice people but nice and naive because they don't thing another human would scam a person. Just look at ur emails. Most are scams. Look at those infomercials at night. Scam after scam. People calling u all day. Scam. It is a rich mans game and it will never change. If you can't beat the dirty fukers ya got to join them. Let me show you what i mean about bad play calling. Most of the betting world took the Eagles against Dallas two weeks ago. Andy Reid with no timeouts elects to go for a FG down 7 with only four minutes left. I know why the roosterlicker did that. There wasn't a reason in the world this prick should have done that. Dallas was my biggest play of the year that day cause i know how that fuker coaches. I loved the terrible call. He made that horrible call so Dallas could cover the game and the books could make out like bandits. Do you guys ever remember a bad call going in the favor of the public? Hell no the bad call always favors the books. Why is that? Okay that is enuf from me. You guys learning how to bet like me only makes my job harder.

Read part of your post..if you are saying some games are fixed...by players, refs whoever... of course we already know that! Something comes out every few years... I still say that is why Jordan retired the first time! I heard he has such a bad gambling addiction...cards on the plane, betting on shots at the gold course (and losing tons of money)...no surprise here.....

My best friend and I live by this. We have been following games and playing them for quite a few years now. It is amazing all the things you see more closely when you have money inloved. I was on the cowboy's also a couple of weeks ago. I primarilily go against the "public money" for years I bet with the public and was a perennial loser. After losing for my first 5 or so years I started to make changes and look for things

Most people on this site are helpless sports handicappers. This is a loser's game because at -110 you most likely will not out cap vegas good numbers are bad numbers aside. Odds are roughly 50/50 overall but it's the losing streaks that kill you. When we get in a winning streak we take money off and celebrate, but when we're in a losing streak we keep throwing money in. I've been in losing streaks, especially with casino games. I've lost 10 hands of blackjack in a row, or tried betting on red in roulette when 17 (yes 17) times in a row it turns up black.

You don't have to believe anymore. You're right about that. Vegas wants imbalance action. I read some Vegas bookie bigshot in some interview saying how in the past it was about turnover. Who got big turnover was considered doing well. Then he said "Today it's about HOLD". Hold= money, profit. In other words, they want to gamble with you (odds in their favour, but still nevertheless a gamble)

Now, my problem is with online bookies taking same imbalanced action... but holding my ENTIRE BALANCE at the same time. If they go bust you know what to expect.... Two tears ago I was scammed by a sportsbook/poker operation for 8k. Once that happens you have no sympathy for these punks and criminals you're dealing with.
