For those that don't know.. I am the King. I watch games, I pick winners, thats what I do. I'm not good at writing blogs, hell, I barely know how to spell. What I do know is that most of you guys make the same mistakes when it comes to picking winners. I love all the classic lines you know-nothings use.."73.2% are on the Over..Vegas never loses... Im taking the UNDER!!!" or "Manning is averaging 305 yards passing a game, the Titans give up 274 yards a game passing.. Im taking the COLTS -13". Hopefuly you guys can put your ego's aside and maybe listen to a thing or two I have to say today. I hope to give you an idea of what goes through my mind when I look at a particular game. There is a reason I have a 3+ unit lead in the "Beat the Prick" contest.
I will give you a quick overview of what I think about the Cowboys/Packers game this week. As I'm typing this the Cowboys are (-2.5) -125 or (-3) +100 at most books with the Total at (47.5). Lets see if I can give you "both" sides of the coin when it comes to capping this game.. The "know-nothing" side, and the King's side.. Here goes...

The Know-Nothing: He instantly thinks about the QB's and offensive weapons.. Rodgers, Romo, Witten, Driver, R.Williams, Jennings, M.Austin, Grant, and Barber. Then he peaks at both teams games so far this year and see's that the Packers and Cowboys have each scored over 20 points in every game this season except once (Cowboys 17-10 loss to Denver). The OVER (47.5) is now a Lock.. Book It.... So now for the Side. First off, it's in Green Bay, so thats 7 "free" points for the Pack. They have Charles Woodson and Al Harris to slow down R. Williams and M. Austin..And dont forget Tony Romo always chokes so there is no way the Cowboys win. Even if the Packers are losing late.. they have Rodgers to drive them down the field to tie it up, send it to overtime, and then My (+3) Packer wager is guaranteed at least a Push.. He'll take the PACKERS (+3) and OVER (47.5)

The King: Most of you dont even watch the games. You bet way too much, so you're too nervous to watch..You track your bets online or on your phone.. Dont lie, I know this is true. And those of you that do watch, look for the wrong things. You guys watch the QB drop back, and then when he throws the ball, you switch quickly to the reciever/cornerback matchup..These are the "skill" positions, and they are fun to watch..But what people do not realize is that skill position players are a dime a dozen. (Diamond Dozen if you're JJ Gold) The difference between Romo and Rodgers isnt much.. The difference between the Cowboys and Packers D-Lines is HUGE. You have to pay attention to the "Trenches" when you watch football. Its where the games are won and lost. No one plays better in the trenches on both sides of the ball then the Dallas Cowboys. Now, If I know this, I promise you the Packers do too. And this is where you guys Fail so often. Green Bay's passing attack takes time to develop. They run Play-Action and deep crossing routes all the time. This is why Rodgers has been sacked so many times. Against the Cowboys they will have to ditch most of these plays and hope to squeak out a low scoring dog-fight. Look for the Packers to try and run the ball and throw quick outs and curls off play action. This is going to keep the clock RUNNING and make the under cash rather easily. The only way this goes over is if the Packers try to throw the ball too much.. If they do, the game will be over quickly and the Cowboys will cruise to a 17 point victory. So that being said.. I like the UNDER (47.5) and COWBOYS (-3)

Can you imagine ANYONE paying some tout on the front page of SBR for selections when you have someone such as THE KING and many other quality handicappers around these forums??

I remember you made a similar statement a couple weeks ago about "skill positions" ( I HATE that term - it wasn't used until relatively recently) and the "trenches". It made me see thru all your obnoxious bluster ( and I mean that in a good way because the forum needs personalities who elicit pro and con responses) and realize that, beneath your "act", you knew about football. Anyone who ever played or coached knows how important line play is. Bravo to you for recognizing this and using it to your advantage.

On a related note , I detest ESPNs use of "impact players" where they only take the trouble to name 3 players on a team in the intros. The linemen who have important impact on every play don't even get mentioned unless they do something wrong. ( just venting here - your post and my response to it made me think of this)

Those that have coached, been around coaches, or have spoken to coaches will say that line play is the most important factor in a football game. Everything sprouts from it, on both sides of the ball... and without good line play, you are really limited in what you can execute and call.
