Default NFL Week 9 Video Preview: Peter Loshak and "Big" Al McMordie

SBR.tv's Peter Loshak welcomes industry vet Al McMordie for the first time to SBR.tv to preview week 9 in the NFL.

Tampa Bay as a huge home dog to Green Bay is an intriguing matchup that has been much-discussed this week. The Packers are off of their intense home loss in Brett Farve's return to Lambeau Field, while the winless Bucs are off of their bye week. Loshak is liking Tampa Bay getting so many points despite being 1-6 ATS on the year and near the bottom of the league in major statistical categories. McMordie validates Loshak's lean and cites a number of reasons why.

Arizona is not as explosive offensively this year as they have been in recent years, and they are dealing with a few nagging injuries to boot. Nevertheless, Chicago's defense has looked mediocre, especially pressuring the QB, and Loshak and McMordie discuss possible value with Arizona +3 and/or the team total over.

The Giants have attracted and burned "sharp money" (a term McMordie takes issue with) over the past three weeks, but are getting favored by bettors once again as a 4.5-point home fave over San Diego. The Giants still have components of their once-fearsome D and running game, but are also showing some serious signs of trouble on the field. Big Al and Loshak discuss.

Dallas' season is on the upswing as they head into Philadelphia as a 3-point road dog, while the Eagles are off of an impressive home blowout over the Giants. Philly blew out the Cowboys last year, and Loshak and Al discuss whether another blowout is likely here, or if revenge-minded Dallas can turn the tables.

Big Al mentions another side he likes this week in the NFL, and throws in a couple of interesting opinions, one concerning the definition of "sharp money", and the other on revenge in general as a handicapping factor.

I always get the impression that when someone on the phone is talking, Loshack is looking at porn on his laptop.

You mean apart from from saying Philly are a big-play team and the Giants are giving up big plays, that the Giants are just playig poorly and he "wants no part of them"?

Nice discussion. Loved the comments about 'sharp' money, it's such a waste of energy worrying whether you are on the 'sharp' or 'square' side of a game. Also interesting to hear the revenge angle downplayed... I tend to agree. I like the revenge factor on my side for a team I was looking to play anyway, but I'd never make it a big factor in a decision, unless perhaps in a game that's pretty meaningless for the other team.

just like the trend this Al guy saw by saying how he loooooooooooves PHIL to beat DAL since philly has manhandled DAL pretty well in the past incl the 44-6 victory last year.. lol.. that really worked out as he said as DAL outright beats PHIL in Philly. and how he said philly will put up big #'s in this game and philly only scores 1 TD all game.

trends are silly, stats are silly. they mean shit in gambling.. that's why there's a spread there..

I guess people also knew that SAC would win by 5 in Utah 2 days ago as a +2000 dog, OR how NAVY beat ND in ND as a +600 dog.. yeah, this stuff is predictable..

Surprised at the negativity aimed at this video. I get the impression some are saying there was no info, analysis etc because there was no info, analysis that they agree with.

And focussing on the Philly pick - a team that lost a scrappy game by 4 points - is odd, considering also given out were the Bengals (opposing the seemingly rather popular pick on this board of the Ravens) and the Buccaneers, a 10-point dog that won outright.

Re: Nicky Santoro... I'm not big on trends myself, but saying that they and stats mean shit "that's why there's a spread there" is meaningless. There is a spread in order to make the game harder to call and encourage action on both sides, end of story.
