I know exactly what you meant John. It's a good question though considering the current situation of the offshore industry. I guess they might just have to go back to only using vegas books only at some point.

The new era will likely take down one or both. Their clients are arb players and big hitters. If you cant move money you really cant arb and big players are moving to credit which is most times a different line set. Things are not any better for SBRLines. Considering the investment and the staff it takes to maintain it, well we need a miracle too.

DonBest would be in a bigger danger before G&J would though IMO. Just for the fact that DB is owned by Liberty Media, and they are trying to buy the Atlanta Braves. With that being said I'm sure the DOJ has taken notice of that little tid bit.

The product is very good but the problem is the demand is not going to be there anymore. Mike did a great job but the gambling ban killed his chances of every making the product big time. Players do not have to see all the line moves anymore because most guys will only have a few accounts funded and secondly the lines will not move as much as they use to because lack of volume.

Secondly the price in todays environment is way too high even though a great product.

Probably a 50% decrease is what I'd be expecting for this year and then we will see. The problem Mike has is if DonBest cuts to $199 what does Mike do? Go to $125? Players will likely go with DB because the price difference will not be as big as it was before.

That will not fly. Their price point will need to be below $150 I think. In fact, I could see it under a $100 if things stay the way they are.

SBR scores are not formatted well, they belong next to the teams on the right. The line changes are pretty accurate though.

I would love to say goodbye to ****ing don best.

The problems is one of the most important things for any line service is to have good easy to read line archives. Its very important for bettor to monitor the line movement. the big problem is the line archive pages for gjupdate are very primitive compared to Don Best. Its been like this for a long time and I dont know why the man in charge at gjupdate doesnt enhance the format. The sad thing all the information is there already but the format is just terrible.

Look at the line movement page for a game on Don Best, see the attached DonBest.jpg file

Its nice and neat, great format. Only the display the line changes. Starts with the opener. The way it should be.

Now lets look at the same game in gjupdate, see the attached gjupdate.jpg file

The format is really bad, too much space. I have to scroll. Not very good. Its very easy to fix the format to make it look like DB.

I hope this is fixed in the next release!

With DB it takes one second to look and see wtf is going on with the line movement, different row colors help too

All I can say is that you guys are crazy. The line service business is stronger than ever. One thing remains the same, people will place bets. Pros are getting down, pros are buying the line service. The price goes up before it goes down, bank on that. Lets think about what is important on a line service:

1.) Accurate and Timely line changes
2.) Accurate and Timely injury info
3.) Live scores

We are faster than DB on *MOST* injuries.
We are about the same time on *MOST* line changes, as well as having accurate Greek, Catalina, Pinnacle lines, etc. We are also faster on a handful of books (5dimes, betjm, laspalmas, wsex, etc)

and our scores are neck and neck.

John, for you to say the line service business is weak is funny. In fact I expect to see more people entering the line service business than leaving it.

Lenny, we used to have our archive lines the way DB currently does. Maybe I should have the option to have both. It was actually my decision to make them look the way they look now (to show both teams per change). I will try to see if you are not alone in that complaint. It is good to know though, thanks. If there is anything else you can think of feel free to shoot me an email, we will get to it all in good time. Starting tommorow I am doing a huge performance upgrade. I would expect to see a 50% or more speed increase in our line changes too. Stay tuned...
