Default Reporting Bad Lines

What's your approach to this? Do you expect a freeplay or cash reward? I've reported them and capitalized on a certain books pure stupidity. This is only after I informed them of the errors. Now we all know that major sports (NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL) if a bad line is posted I say 99.9% it will be corrected and they will void your bet or do whatever. Chances are much greater that for some props, soccer, and golf matchups it may not get noticed. So when you report a bad line you would expect maybe a free play or something. One time I reported to Carib that they had tennis matches up and on some of them a complete set was played. I told them the matches and they offered me a free square to a contest. That being said, I will be sure not to inform them ever again.
Any experiences you want to share.

I reported a bad line to Bet365 and didnt get d ick, tom or harry. In fact they said bet it. So I did only to see it cancelled in my account an hour later. I still like the book but they can be some arrogant blokes at times.

The best is when some people on forums such as this one (never noticed it here, but I'm new) create a post about the bad line so others could capitalize. Although these people have a good gambling heart, they must not be the sharpest tool in the shed. Someone will spill the beans.
Some may think it is low, but why not take advantage of the situation if your experience with the book hasn't been the best? A certain book (A to B rated here) posts/posted (haven't played there in 2 years) had a couple of golf tournaments where the round matchups starting times were off by an hour. When I first noticed it I e-mailed a big wig directly, got no response. I'd say chances are he did receive the e-mail and probably didn't pay any attention. Well, they had Vijay Singh (spelling) +270 vs Tiger Woods. They were in the same group and Singh had like a 5 stroke lead on the day after 3 holes. I kid you not. I did the max bet, then played my remaining balance in parleys with Singh and other dead chalk money lines bets. They all won.
This same book had a Monday nite NFL prop where both sides were + it was like +160 and +230. The same book another time had soccer matches on the same day as turn back the clock day. The matches were an hour in and they had them posted. Now I really think this may be an inside job or the people who should oversee this doesn't happen are complete idiots.

It would be good to have a definition of what a bad line is, instead of leaving that interpretation open to each book. For instance, a percentage off the lines posted elsewhere, that everyone can agree on.

Well I reported to the book today that they had Kansas State playing St. Mary's and Kansas on the board. They didnt even give me a drink ticket. K-State was a 5.5 point dog to St. Mary's.

My apologies. I consider it wrong start times, wrong team favored, both sides are + money. I don't mean that the line is 1 1/2 off from Pinnacle/The Greek.

I've reported some 40-50 bad lines to maybe 12 different books and have never received ANYTHING in return. Not that I care. If you bet a bad line you might get 365'ed and stuck with a line you didn't bet.

Every bad line costs a book money, IMO. At the very least they're going to upset some customers, and it makes them look bad if they're a common thing. I think it's in the book's best interest to give the customer something (even just a small free play) for reporting a bad line. They get to the mistake quicker and end up with more happy customers.

That being said, I've never gotten a penny, and I've reported a ton of bad lines. So I generally don't report them anymore unless it's a book that's really treated me well. I also thought they might start to wonder why I'm on top of all these lines before they are.

That was my experience too until couple of months ago reported a bad line at Pinny for the first time, they gave me $25 despite the fact they prolly noticed the line before even reading my email. Funny thing was that the next day I saw one with WSEX and they gave me $50! Classy operations

I remember reporting tons of bad lines at 5dimes and they didnt even bother to reply simple thank you. In fact, they cut my limits and accused me of betting into them

That's hysterical. BTW, random question because you are a Finn: Do you listen to "Death Metal" like Emperor? Just curious because a lot of the Finns I know listen to stuff so hard that they consider Black Sabbath to be elevator music.

I have been rewarded for reporting bad lines at least a handful of times over the years. Bet365, who are listed as an offender here, gave me the most generous reward I ever got. They let me bet $200 at a very bad line before they changed it (like the line was +190 instead of -190 or something like that). That was a few years ago.

More often the rewards have been nice gestures but nominal. ~10 - 25 bucks.

A reward is never something I expect.

I used to notice bad lines quite often but I can't remember the last time it happened. I'm not sure why that has changed.

It depends on the book. For example TheGreek, Expekt, Nordicbet and Intertops already gave me some bonus for reporting a bad line. Earlier also Unibet gave me a bonus, but nowadays they only send a thanks-mail, but nothing more. On the other site Bet365, PaddyPower (actually all british bookmakers) and BetCris (even if I went to live chat and they changed the line immediately) don't give any bonus.

None needed.

I meant that there should be an industry standard that is accepted by all reputable books. It shouldn't be up to each individual book to decide what a bad line is, because some will take advantage.

Yeah, it just seems weird with people receiving a 'thank you". Think about it. A book won't crumble offering a $25 freeplay if a bad line is reported. Books who are ignorant/cheap will be affected in a minor way. The comparison between free plays given for reporting bad lines vs. paying out the bad line (if they don't notice) doesn;t come close.

I report bad lines, and file it under public relations. I'm not about to take a shot at a book, for the same reason. No one likes a winner, and I fully intend to be a winner. I've recieved a thank you from Pinnacle once, but otherwise I don't worry about it. The other reason I report is that I was looking at the line for a reason and might want to bet into the fixed number - it can be frustrating to look at +140 and know that you'd like -140, but first they have to figure it out. As for what a bad line is, I figure you know it when you see it and you find out quickly if a book has an unreasonably quick trigger finger.
