I don't think I'll ever bet an NBA game...i dislike the NBA.

As for NCAA, it's much easier from what everyone says. I personally did well, and stopped and withdrew Friday evening. I am done till MM. I'll have a better idea then...

So far so good to this point of the season. It will be touch and go for the NBA after the All-Star break.

Not a good NBA/NCAA season for me. Waiting for the Baseball season to get underway. Approx. 2 months left.

I've been asked to set odds for my friends on this proposition:

Will a Big East team make the final 4?

My initial guess was to set it at +200 (Vig free, this is just for two people to bet against each other). Anyone have any thoughts on this?

IMO Pitt and G'Town are the only teams with a prayer. If they will accept +200 then try..

Me personally I would need about +600 maybe +800

There's a daily thread in the basketball section that since Ocotber 31 has provided daily NBA team rankings, a pointspread and moneyline for every game, and a selection methodology and strike price for every game that has picked 55% pointspread winners over 547 plays. Picks are up 117 units on a 1-unit basis. Or 235 units on a 2-unit basis, 587 units on a 5-unit basis, whatever.

But don't tell anybody, it's apparently a secret.

As I mentioned in the "Conference to Fall on Its Face" thread, I think that there will be NO Big East teams in the Sweet Sixteen, so I would act accordingly!

I'm making an absolute killing so far this year, which is strange considering I contemplated not betting basketball at all. Last year I had a hard time, but this year has been almost too easy thus far.

last week: 9-2 +8x...keeping all my bets small, and a max. of 2 a day.

Very good hoops season for me.

When the NBA all-star break starts I will turn my attention to baseball, and start focusing on my baseball capping. Two more days till spring training starts.

Let me clarify on the Big East final 4 odds: I am not wagering, I am just the linesmaker my friends are using. It sounds like 2-1 was too low, but given Pitt/Marquette/G'Town all have shots (and Pitt looks to be a 2-3 seed) I have a hard time suggesting it should be anything more than 4-1 against the Big East making the final 4.

With a sample size of 547, that is bloody impressive.

    I'd say

    GT is about 3-1
Pitt and Marquette are about 10-1
WVU and Providence are about 25-1
ND and L'ville are about 50-1

    +175 is about right.
I would take Yes at +200, but wouldn't take +150

Razz: Thanks, I'll let them know it is 2-1 (for simplicity)

had a rough ten day stretch in NCAA hoops myself, but am still up significantly on the year...I must say that I find it much more emotionally taxing that college football...there are a lot more uncontrollable variables to factor into the equation...GL the rest of the season guys...

P.S. I'd never bet NBA either...used to about 20 years ago (when I was a kid), but not anymore...like throwing your money in the toilet...

Does anybody ever say they're losing? I'm down this year in NBA, up a very small amount in NCAA hoops. But I'm definitely down overall.

Noticed that myself.. I've noticed a few on here myself who never admit to losing even when they are..

Pretty sad IMO.. They know who they are no need to mention names..

    You may want to upgrade.
After watching it perform this year, I will certainly be using a Jay Edgar toilet next year for the NBA.

    jay edgar,

my hat's off to you if you're making money in the NBA...congrats...

    imgv,

I agree, which is why it's always good to post picks (that Illusion usually tracks in the hoops forum)...

Between Jay Edgar's system and RickJ's NBA picks as well as a few of my own I am up 40 units on the NBA so far this year. As for college I can't figure it out so I have stopped until the tourney and am down almost 10 units on the season.

Don't follow the NBA at all, and down a little in college ball which I feel pretty lucky to only be down a little in considering the way it's been going.

Don't get me wrong, I am loving the season from a fan's standpoint so far. But trying to figure anything out as the gospel, hard truth for betting it? Forget it. I just do not remember a season in which you could pretty much count on at least two Top 10 schools going down each week.

Saturday will be a huge day hopefully in college hoops. Been working on the card since Tuesday.
