Indiana and NW have both spoiled seasons in the past against Iowa(not to the magnitude they could do this time), so the Hawkeyes better come to play in both of those games or they could find themselves losing one or both of them, even though they will be two digit favorites in both.

the BCS title game, if they are 12-0 they play in it. They are probably +300 to beat Ohio St. though

A bright spot for Hawkeye fans is this team returns Nine starters on the defensive side of the ball next season, as well as a host of skill position players on offense, including but not limited to their top three running backs(Wegher, Robinson, Hampton) and their QB Stanzi.
On top of that they return P Ryan Donahue, a probable RAY GUY FINALAST this season and also have what would appear to be an easier schedule next season then the one they entertained this season.
With all of the above, look for the Hawkeyes to be right back in the title picture come again next season and should be ranked in most top ten polls to start the season.

It will be very hard to live up to expectations, especially when they lose some very good OL and the two defensive starters they do lose are two stud linebackers, Angerer and Edds.
Thus, I agree with your post.
Just give me an Iowa national championship this season and I will be content with Iowa going 7-5 next season...........![]()

A few points.......
That 2002 team was never ranked in the top three I don't believe......maybe #5 tops. Iowa played them fairly even in the 1st half(think they were down 4?)........and Iowa lost all everything BOB SANDERS for the 2nd half and we all know what he means to a defense........BUT MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT, USC WAS THE BETTER TEAM THAT NIGHT, NO EXCUSES.
Hayden had Iowa at #1 a few times, most notably after they defeated Michigan in a battle of #1 against #2.
Lastly, Iowa has had some great teams prior to the Hayden Era, and actually won a mythical national championship in the late 50's.

Re-read my post
If Iowa wins out they WOULD BE A FAVORITE to play in the title game............what I'm saying is if you give Iowa that scenario right now today(going undefeated), they would be a favorite to go becuase right now if this were a line on Texas going undefeated the remainder of the season they would be an underdog in doing such.
But like you said, Iowa themselves is a rather huge underdog to win ALL of their next four games, so chances are Iowa will not be in the title game.

I just cannot see ANY one loss team in America keeping Iowa out of the title game if indeed Iowa goes undefeated.
But as reported earlier, Iowa could certainly go undefeated and NOT play in the title game, with the BIG THREE of ALABAMA, FLORIDA, and TEXAS posing the most if not all of those scenarios. I don't think an undefeated Boise State, TCU, or Cincy team would go ahead of an undefeated Iowa club..........but it could be close. A lot could depend on how some of Iowa's opponents fare down the stretch, mainly the likes of Arizona, Iowa State, Penn State, and Wisconsin.

You think Boise State fans are crying now, what if Oregon goes out and defeats USC by 14 or more points and moves ahead of them in some polls???
Actually, a big win by Oregaon is precisely what Boise State needs this week to keep their title hopes alive.
If Oregon wins this weekend, Boise State will move up in the BCS rankings, possibly ahead of more then just USC.
