    Default Friday...Ivy league or else...

Does anybody else ever wander why year after year that on friday you are stuck with ivyball?I would think with all the great match ups on Saturday that somebody would figure out a way to schedule a few games of interest on friday.Just was wandering if theres some special reason for this

Bigger television audiences during the day Saturday than on Friday nights. Why put top-flight college hoops on when the audience is limited and you can get far more ad revenue 12-18 hours later?

Some of it might also be due to the 'old school' theory that Fridays were for high school, Saturdays for the colleges and Sundays for pros.

But I do agree with your point that it would be nice to have, say, the Florida-Kentucky game tonight as an option for those of us who are sitting around the house looking for a solid game to watch.

I'm surprised the MAC or WAC at least doesn't work something out with ESPN. Until they do, it's high school basketball only for me on Friday night.

Razz, I happen to find a lot of value on Friday night college hoops.

Conference USA had a Friday night ESPN deal a few years ago, but that got supplanted when they acquired rights to the NBA.

Oh and while the title of this thread referenced only the Ivy League, do not forget that the MAAC, which also plays on Fridays, has been a virtual gold mine for road underdogs this year! I posted the exact record in the Basketball forum.

I really think if you bet the Ivy League you may have a problem...that's just me though...

Even if I happen to find a lot of value, and consistently win my wagers from that conference?

Well BBD,since you have uncovered the formula for winning in the ivy league, would you be so kind as to start:Posting these consistant winners so the rest of us can build our roll for the real games on saturday?I will be the first to admit that I am on that conference, but free consistant winners is something I will not pass up

    bigboydan,

if this is true, you're a rare breed...these guys are too worried about running the world after they graduate...plus it's always good to take time off during college hoops season...fridays in conference are perfect for that...
