If the Giants cover and the Angels win this might be the best day of my gambling life. The Giants just have to win ML to make it a great day for me.

    Books have already gotten DESTROYED!

I believed 3-4 books will cease to exist after tonight maybe more. Check the touts on the front page of SBR. They are 100% winning in free picks. Imagine what happened with the sold picks. Only one dog covered and I bet you most people took the points with Buffalo.

I feel bad for those trying to collect from the Sportsbook.com type shops this week.

I would get my money out ASAP.

There will be several books not paying with today's bloodbath.

I thought some of these lines looked too easy. SD -5 jumped off the screen at me the first time I saw it. Head scratcher there. This is what SD does... start 2-3 and then get hot. KC was not going to stand in their way. Also, why anyone thought STL or TAM could stay within two TD's of Indy and NE is beyond me.

Definitely a lot of books that took an absolute pounding today.

I don't get what you guys are all talking about... The books keep the money coming in even on both sides of the line -- that's the way the lines move, so the money will end up even on both sides. The books always do EXACTLY the same, and they will ALWAYS stay in business. Unless, that is, you're talking about some small-time local, who could get knocked around. And what percentage of people still use those guys in this day of one-touch everything??!!

    So calm down.

    And go Cards!!

Capybara, that's just not the case. There is frequently much heavier action on one side than another. Over the long haul the bookies are one the right side of that number more often than not, but today it was all the gamblers.

Usually there is slightly more money on favorites as squares tend to bet favorites more often...so when the favorites go 9-1-1 ATS, the books DO get beat hard...! They have limitless cash though so like someone else said, we won the battle today, but they'll win the war.

The locals don't have limitless cash. My guy said he was down 15k on the season two weeks ago from a $100k bank. He won some back last week, but he got killed today I'm sure.

Sorry Thor and EH, but I still say it's *you* who are a little off in your victory march. When the money stops being even on both sides, the books MOVE THE LINE!! That's standard operating procedure! When the squares are betting the favorites heavy (which they usually do) and the line doesn't move that way, it's because the SHARPS, fewer in number but bigger bettors, are keeping the money EVEN on both sides!

Thus the books take the juice, and they win. End of story.

Now sometimes the sharps are on the same side as the squares, and no matter how much the line moves, the books can't get the money even on either side of the line -- like probably with the Pats today, or the Colts. So yeah, they took a hit. But it's really not that big a deal.

books always win, they get all the money from parlays and teasers, most of which just go down in flames

Yeah okay. any idiot that think the books set the line to get equal action on both sides needs to stop gambling now before it is to late.

Yeah, okay, I read that... I guess I was just giving the books more credit... I mean, come on, we've all seen how horrible some of this year's teams are, so it's their own fault for not adjusting by getting those lines up to 17 or even 20 and getting some betting on the other side!!

How much did they get back with Arizona winning outright ? Probably a lot, they have another chance tonight if Philly doesn't show up

I live in Vegas. When you get in line to make a bet, or even hang around near the betting windows, what do you think is the most common wager? I don't know how many times I've had to have my tickets canceled because the clerk thought I was betting parlays in stead of straight bets.

It's unbelievable how many people bet parlays--really unbelievable. Everybody and their mother has 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 team parlays going. Parlay, parlay, parlay.

And they parlay everything with everything. College with pros. Totals with money line bets. Hockey, basketball, football and baseball. Every combination imaginable.

    The books edge on a two-team (-110) parlay is 10% (it's 5% on a straight bet. Your disadvantage is -4.54%, but the bookies advantage is 5%. That's because you're risking 110 to win 100, while the bookie is risking 100 to win 100). On a 3-team parlay it's 12.5%. For a 4-teamer it's 31%, a five-team is 35%, 6-team=36%, 7-team is 41% and an 8 team parlay paying 100-1 is a 60% disadvantage.

Odds vary of course, and parlay cards are usually worse. It pays to shop around. The odds on a parlay card might be slightly higher, but the prices are usually shaded and they don't fluctuate. Ties might win, and ties might lose.

Private bookies usually do even better. That's because they offer 12-5 on two-teamers and 5-1 on 3 teamers.

Bookies clean up with parlays and teasers.

you cant be serious... you wanted them to make an nfl line 17-21+ , 17 is as high as nfl lines go my friend.
