Default BCS SAGARIN has Iowa #1

Let me be clear on my thoughts about Iowa's ranking.

I have no problem at all with ANY of the current undefeated teams being ranked ahead of Iowa AT THIS TIME, even though I could probably make a case for the Hawkeyes being ranked ahead of all of them almost as easily.

I still have to respect BOISE STATE for the simple fact they defeated a very, very good OREGON team.

TCU just went into BYU and throttled them and may be the most underrated undefeated team remaining.........in fact, they are!

TEXAS, ALABAMA, and FLORIDA need no reasoning for obvious reasons, however at least two of these three are probably overrated.

CINCY win over USF not looking as good after the Bulls got runover by Pitt yesterday, but they have played great football all year long.

Two weeks from now we will know much more about the undefeated teams remaining and then we all will be able to make more accurate measurements of them all.

If I had to make a prediction on who will be in the title game at this time, I would probably say.......

    TEXAS/FLORIDA

Texas schedule is suddenly appearing easy from here on out and Florida just finds a way to win and still has the nations longest winning streak.

Going to be a great month of CFB in the next four weeks.

TCU in my opinion if they run out deserves the bid over Boise, Cincy and Iowa. TCU plays ball control with a very stout defense. TCU would give Bama a run at the money.

Every passing week Iowa's wins over Penn State, Iowa State, and Arizona are looking better and better..............however, that could and probably will come to a quick halt in the next two weeks.

Not saying Iowa is better then TCU, but if both teams run the table, Iowa will get the title bid.

TCU schedule is playing out at this time to be farily pathetic with their biggest wins against Clemson(them winning yesterday really helped TCU) and BYU yesterday.

    Their remaining games.........

    UNLV
    at SANDIEGOSTATE
    UTAH
    at WYOMING
    NEW MEXICO

Iowa would have a win over Ohio State AT Ohio State and that, coupled with some other nice wins would propel them ahead of of TCU in the final BCS standings.

TCU at this time has a much better chance at running the table then Iowa does..........TCU needs Iowa to lose.

Boise State and TCU are for sure two teams that do not control their own destiny.

Boise State needs Oregon to run the table more then anything outside of winning their own games.

Well Boise should not be there if they go undefeated. If TCU goes undefeated, their defense would give many teams trouble. Iowa is a gritty team, not flashy but gets the job done week in and week out. I say they lose to Ohio St as they been winning these last 2 games closely and may falter at the Shoe.

Iowa's the best team in the country, that's why. Big 10 finally shows up after years of uselessness.

    Yes, your missing something.

The ELO CHESS ratings of Sagarin are used for the BCS, not the actual rankings.

On a footnote, with the SIX different computor models used for the BCS, they throw out the top ranking and lowest ranking of each team the computers spit out and average the FOUR remaining............as it turned out, Iowa was the #1 team in the BCS computer rankings this week.

I see. No wonder the BCS is phucked up. If the game was a pickem, I would take either SEC school (Fla or Ala) against Iowa for a large amount.

I'd tease up and make the SEC +7 and UNDER.

Iowa would be at LEAST a 6.5 pt. dog to Florida.................no tease needed.

Think I would take Iowa SU against Alabama(if RB Robinson is healthy) at the current time.

In fact, would probably take Iowa +7 against the Gators.

Giving a team +7 or more with the type of defense Iowa has I think is good value..........and Iowa has an absolutely outstanding defense, one that I would put up against any team in the nation.

    Who the hell is Sagarao??

Texas would be -10 over Iowa in a bowl game
    Florida would be -7.5

Oklahoma with a healthy QB would of been -13

    USC -5 over Iowa

Iowa lost their top two RB's entering the season(one to the NFL as junior and another to injury, a top notch starting cornerback to injury, one of the best TE's in the country for 2+ games, just lost a starting OL for the year and have had numerous injuries on their OL all season long(an OL that was rated top 5 preseason by Phil Steele and rightly so) and now they have lost a freshman RB who is their leading rusher on the year possibly for the season and thus forcing Iowa to bring a player off his redshirt season to fill his roster spot.

Iowa has been devastated by injuries all season long and what they have been able to accomplish this season has been nothing short of remarkable.

The oddsmakers at Las Vegas Sports Consultants haven’t moved Florida (1) at all from their power rankings this year and even if the Gators lose, the school from Gainesville will still probably hail the top spot in this poll.

    OK, whatever...........

I guess if USC can lose to crappy Washington and remain #4 in some national polls, a loss to Vandy next week by Florida surely should not do enough damage to knock the Gators off their #1 spot.

Iowa has the same issue Alabama has when it comes to being a serious contender for the national title. Their QB play is average at best and Stanzi or McElroy are not capable of winning a championship.

I am a huge Iowa fan, but can you imagine what Texas or Florida would have done to them yesterday with six turnovers coming their way?

Iowa has a great defense though, we all know that.

I would take Florida -20 vs Iowa in the National Championship game. That would be a turkey shoot. Florida players playing at their best for all of the marbles vs Iowa players playing at their best for all of the marbles would be embarrasing.

Iowa is a very good team. If i were to conduct a power rankings though they would not make the top 10. I think most can agree they are not one of the 10 best teams in football and there are probably 15 or so teams vegas would have as a favorite over Iowa on a neutral field

On a neutral LSu would probably be favored over Iowa and they are 9 pt dogs to Bama, and were 9 pt dogs vs Florida at home.

I recall a few years back coach FERENTZ having an unbelievable 2-4 year winning run against the spread in Big Ten games.

However, the reality is that they are one of the SIX computer models used in the BCS forumula.

If Iowa was in SEC it would have been a .500 team and would never crack the Top 25.
