Alabama would score at will against Iowa, and Iowa would not make it to 14 against Bama. This is the typical thought process for people that don't understand SEC football. They think the teams score low because they don't have offense. They are scoring low because they are facing the best defenses in the nation. Ingram and Julio Jones are 2 of the top 10 skill position players in the nation. The Alabama offensive line may be the best in the nation. Their QB is average. Alabama's offense is LOADED.

Iowa has played absolutely nobody. Alabama when they are done will have played the best teams in the nation.

Iowa simply does not have the man power to match up with even the mid level SEC teams.

Penn St would be slightly a better matchup imo. Much better D, but they already lost to Iowa

If Iowa goes undefeated playing pop warner teams and gets to play in the national championship I will quit watching college football. But that is not going to happen. They will go undefeated and get blown out in a BCS game against real competition.

Alabama will win this match up 31-13.

This is the best Iowa team this decade and they have defeated SOUTH CAROLINA, FLORIDA, and LSU in bowl games this decade and your saying this Iowa team doesn't matchup with a mid level SEC team this year????

Well, we know it will not be against a crappy Georgia team.

A game of such magnitude could have any result.

Seems we have the same arguments every season, just different teams.

    On any given day.

How about Texas vs. Iowa in the title game. I think that would be great. Maybe both Florida or Alabama might be before they meet in the championship game in the SEC.

This curren Georgia team will put roughly twice as many players in the NFL as the current Iowa team. Put Georgia in the Big10 and they run the table every other year.

No one will have to worry.

Iowa will not be playing in the championship game.

This is the best Iowa team this decade? Thats not saying much because this Iowa team beat Northern Iowa 17-16 and Arkansas State 24-21.

I'm telling you that if you put this very Iowa team in the SEC, that they are very similar in style and talent to Vanderbilt. And you see how Vandy is doing this year.

Vandy and Iowa are strikingly similar in play style and talent although I think Vandy may have a slight edge in talent.

The SEC teams Iowa beat were all having down years except SC. Plus didn't Iowa lose to LSU recently in a bowl game too? Iowa could not play a regular SEC schedule and make very many bowl games. They just don't have the players.

By the way, IOWA has Nine defensive starters back next season...........and McNutt(game winning catch tonight) is only a sophomore and their two leading rushers year to date are freshman.

Oh, and Stanzi will be back also at QB.

They also have what may be the RAY GUY Award winner in punter Ryan Donahue......who also is back next season.

Its true. Vandy and Iowa both slow the game down, ride their defense, and try to steal the game at the end. That is the game plan for both teams. The difference is that Vandy is playing some great teams, Iowa is playing basically Division 2 teams.

And you can't talk about Georgia. 2 SEC titles this decade alone, a national championship in the modern era, finished number 2 a few years back, and we have been a few points away from playing in the national championship a few times in the past decade. All that while playing SEC talent.

    Now your turn with Iowa......

Georgia 2 SEC titles this decade..........Iowa closing in on 3rd BIG TEN title this decade.

Iowa 12 pts from national championship game LAST YEAR and currently ranked 6th in the BCS and moving higher THIS YEAR.

By the way, GEORGIA HAS A GREAT FOOTBALL PROGRAM, CURRENTLY AND IN THEIR GLORIOUS HISTORY.

If this is the case then answer these questions.

Why does the SEC put more players in the NFL than any other conference almost every year? When they are not 1st they are second. How are they not superior when they usually are first in this category?

Why on any given week in any given year can you add up the BCS rankings, take the average for all the teams in the SEC vs averages for teams from other conferences, and the SEC is almost always 1st in this category? At the end of the year the SEC is always first in this category. If they are not the best then why is this the case?

Why is the SEC considered the best conference by almost every college football analyst that speaks on the subject, other than homers?

Why does the SEC yearly get the best players from high school?

If you can answer these questions I will consider your accusation that the SEC is not superior. If you cannot then I will not consider it

LoL Iowa is not even close to deserving a BSC title game. They're not even in the same league as Florida!

But Iowa plays in the Big 10. You cannot compare the Big 10 to the SEC. Its great that Iowa is having a decent year but in reality they have not accomplished anything. Teams not in the SEC get unfair treatment because SEC teams beat each other up weekly. If you scattered the SEC teams around the different conferences you would have about 6 of them in the top 10 at the end of every year. That is just the reality of how much better SEC football is than the 2nd best conference.

And Georgia should be at least 5-2, maybe 6-1, because the officials gave a celebration penalty on GA against LSU when there wasn't an excessive celebration. The officials issued an apology and admitted they blew the call that led to the LSU win. Then of course the GA team was too down the next week to play at Tennessee with any enthusiasm.

That same officiating crew went on to give the game to Florida the next week versus Arkansas. They just started throwing flags on the final Florida drive against Arkansas where there were no penalties made. That officiating crew is not officiating anymore.

If I am not mistaken, Georgia is averaging 10 wins a year this decade. Again an emphasis must be made that this is playing an SEC schedule. That makes averaging 10 wins a year incredible.

I dont have anything against Iowa, I just know their talent level and I know they would not be where they are if playing an SEC schedule. They may not even go undefeated playing a Big 10 schedule, but we will see. They haven't won at Ohio St since the early 90's.

SEC fans as a whole(not saying you are) are in their own little world of SEC football and nothing else exists.

I have noticed this living in Florida the past 7 years.

Again, not the case with you I don't think, but as a whole and for being such a great conference as the SEC is, their fans leave a lot to be desired in terms of knowledge outside of the SEC.

Iowa is about as lucky as Notre Dame. Both teams should have at least 3 losses by now. Iowa's season comes down to the OSU game. We'll see what they're made of in that one. I think OSU is going to roll over them.

We can't help but be blinded. It comes from staring at the big, crystal football we've owned for the past three years.

This is why you don't do meth.

    Just another SEC homer.

    Iowa's beaten LSU.
Lost to texas by 1 point
Got hosed on a offsides on a onside kick that was instant replayed not offsides (would have beaten florida). Chad Greenway was just that fast baby!

Iowa's been there done that with SEC teams in the past. no reason why they couldn't this year.

    ps

the middle of the pack SEC teams are pretty ugly this year. Middle of the pack Big Ten teams could be argued as Penn St or OSU depending how the rest of the season shapes out...Penn St and OSU still have to play head to head, and if Iowa beats OSU there just middle of the big ten.
