I am not sure a 12 year old could do a worse job shopping for food. Cookies, chips, soda, candy bars, carmel apples, etc...
I am just like you, screw the card. I don't believe in it. They shouldn't make you have to carry around one of their cards if they want to give you a discount, it's bullcrap.

Whats wrong with saving money? 
I save at least 35% of my bill every time I go shopping because of the card. You dont even need to carry the card, just type in your phone number on the pad.
