interesting article in october issue of G.Q. titled the business of loving americans in which it is asserted that americans traveling to costa rica purely for sex vacations has surpassed all other purposes of visits,ecotourism,beaches,etc...the article states that not only is prostitution legal but encouraged and considered a viable career option by the government.i had a sportsbook agent comp our visit last year and he put us up at the hotel del ray.the place is amazing with over 100 girls hanging around the lobby,bar and casino.i thought this was exclusive to this hotel until i read the article.i think a wild week in costa rica beats vegas hands down

You'll find prostitutes all around Costa Rica. Del Rey is a whore bar... you'll find hundreds of girls there depending on the night you go, which are all prostitutes, some of them are actually really hot...
All around San Jose you can find whore houses and "massage" places. Escorts are extremely common down here.
But don't think of it as if it was something approved by everybody. For 90% of the population it is completely TABU and they don't approve it.

I go there to surf, and last year went to the beatle bar in Jaco, it was a good laugh.100's of ho's working, mostly older men leaving with them, but hey, its just business, "if there is a need fill it", literally in this case-marketing 101. I don't condemn people who partake, its just not for me.

I still believe more people go there to look at the beautiful country and surf the great waves.
