i agree, take the points. this should be a really close game. Spurrier is known for being a giant-killer and bet your ass he's been looking forward to this game all season. Bama hasn't faced this great of a defense all season. i think alabama wins, but not by 17.

Agree. I could see Bama playing not to lose here. SC is a live dog.

I think Alabama is way better than South Carolina. I think Alabama covers like they have all season long. They haven't missed very many covers this year. Look out is what I say. Alabama could win this one by 20 or more. They are that much better than South Carolina.

Alabama's homecoming is this week.. While i believe they will be focused, there's still got to be a little bit of distraction.. Bama wins, but no way by 17.. S.C. defence is gonna be ready..

Yeah, this is a good pick.

I really don't see the SC defense allowing a blow out.

mmike I could see Ark covering this weekend that is way too many points. Florida didn't look that great last week against LSU on offense.

In this game I cannot see So. Carolina scoring very many points at all. Unless Alabama turns to ball over they should win by more than 17 because So. Carolina will not score very many points at all against that defense.

I been telling people this all year. Florida will not score a lot of points this year on offense. They just dont have the recievers. You people will learn. 13 against LSU, 23 against Tenny

    There defense will carry them.

Thanks ZBoiz I totally agree with you and that is why I was on LSU on the teaser last week. Florida has a problem on offense and someone could upset them but it will not be Arkansas though. They are not good enough to beat Florida but I do think they could easily cover though. 24 1/2 is just too many points with what I seen last week.

Everyone is going to hate me but I think Bama is going to roll them. I like S.Car but Bama is just too much balanced O and great fast D. Iam going to stay away from this game but if I had to bet I like Bama at home to roll them. 35-10

the way south carolina has been playing last few games, its alabama victory by 20+ points

South Carolina defense is nasty. They will get pressure on Mccelroy and he will have to make desicions. Also Garcia will see a lot of pressure and he will have to make good desicions. You will see two teams that are defensive built. I'll take the points in this one. But I think Bama wins by no more than 10. I can see this being a 21-13 type game.

This would have merit if these two teams played every year, instead of 2 times every 6 years.

Also, South Carolina's defense isn't any better than Ole Miss's defense. Both are very good but both fall in the same category.

Fogtown you are dead wrong. South Carolina defense is way better than Ole Miss. Way better secondary and linebackers. Also they have the best defensive end in the country. I don't know where you get that from.

Ralphie I don't think South Carolina will win but it won't be a blowout. Both defenses are scary good. The only way it will be a blow out if Garcia throw pics, and give Bama good field position.

collin cowherd said that this morning during his show..... i was like wtf dont know what people are watching but that USC defense is no joke, looks better than that ole miss defense to me too.

Norwood is a beast! He will be all over Mcelroy in this one. This will be a run first game . Saban plays it close to the vest in these types of games. But the offense with the best running game will win this game, and I think it's Bama.

What's the over under this game...

considering how good both defenses are...I might just take the under.

I will admit I have serious concerns about this game as well with all the distractions that come with a Homecoming game. I truly would like to beat down whoever scheduled this game for Homecoming. This is when you play Tenn. Chatt or a Duke.

As with any game it depends on which team shows up. If the true #2 team in the nation shows up sure we'll hang 20 pts on them. An unfocused team like with Kentucky...we'll be struggling to win against the #15 D in the nation and a dangerous QB in Garcia. Fortunately with South Carolina's injuries and the recent suspension that will aid our efforts considerably.

As for the line, I'd have to take the points too. I have this game at 10 pts.

ZBOIZ,i don't think FOGTOWN is dead wrong here, here are the numbers of both defenses

    S.CARO. GAME RUSH PASS
    280.3 129.3 151.0

    OLE MISS. GAME RUSH PASS
    293.0 134.4 158.6

this does not constitute WAY BETTER to me.....S.CARO. will have to score to win and i don't see how that is going to happen unless like someone else said, they turn the ball over deep in their own teritory.......i don't doubt S.CARO.has a great defense but so does OLE MISS,and bama according to many on here said BAMA would not cover the last 17 point spread and they did easily......SABEN has it drilled into their heads that they can never let up and take anyone lightly, they are on a mission, they hit like a bunch of crazy nuts, they will not beat themselves, you must come with your A-GAME to beat them or its just not going to happen

I HOPE my Gamecocks cover...but I do agree with those who say that Bama could roll here (no pun intended). I just don't see the Gamecocks being able to do much on offense...and the defense will have to be on the field most of the game. In the second half, the defense wears down and the Tide rolls...

Hope like hell I'm wrong...but I'm afraid I'm not. Bama very well may be the best team in the nation.

No, actually you are dead wrong. Both are very good defenses, but South Carolina does not have the D-line that Ole Miss has. Both defenses are strong but to say South Carolina's is way better than Ole Miss's defense is just ignorant.

Also, which one is the best defensive end in the country? Cliff Mathews or Clifton Geathers? Or did you not realize that Norwood is a LB that they rush at times off the line?

Ole Miss DL is much better than South Carolina's d-line, especially with Robertson out. South Carolina will likely struggle against the run.

I will call LB a wash. Norwood is a great LB, but Trahan and Walker are a better combination than South Carolina has.

Secondary maybe, but with Auguste out I will be interested to watch how Gilmore(although impressive so far) and Whitlock play.

Also, where did you come off saying that these games are usually close?

These teams have played 4 times this decade:

    2005 - Alabama won 37-14
    2004 - South Carolina won 20-3
    2001 - South Carolina won 37-36
    2000 - Alabama won 27-17

So, from what I can tell 3 out of the last 4 times these teams played, one team has won by double digits.

This game will probably be a 2-3 score game. I expect Garcia to struggle like all other top QB's Alabama has played so far this season. With Giles out and their starting RG quitting the team on Thursday this game is too close for me to pick a side.

South Carolina has a few injuries in defense and offense for this game. If Alabama scores in the 20's or better they cover the spread.

Fogtown Norwood is more of a hybrid defensive player. You can call him a linebacker or a defensive end. I'm not the only one who title him as a D end. When he get to the pro's he will be on the line. But it's
mainly opinions. I would rather S.C defense any day. But it will be a good game tommorrow night. The ball coach don't have the talent he needs to run his system but he is still a great gameplanner for what he's working with. I still like the +17. But I believe Bama win this one.!

I think the play is either South Carolina or nothing, I just think it is a risky play. I could easily see Alabama holding them to single digits.
