    Yep Sammy.

The one thing about the lows are the fact that you never forget those losses.

danny, i can win a $500.00 bet and feel good for an hour or so but let me lose 200.00 on a last sec FG and I will remember it (pissed off) for several days

No doubt. But, I did get pretty high when I sucked out on my Alabama 2H play earlier.

    yes

i lost by half a point yesterday

and also an under cause of an OT

it was not a good one yesterday

i expect to win so i happy for about an hour

a loss provokes far more emotion

You know what I've found to help immensely?

Never watching a game in which you have financial interest.

The worst is "watching" the scores update online for an obscure game

I couldn't agree more. Make the bets and forget it. Thats the professional way.

I never like watching the games I bet on.

The lows are always rough, usually burns a bit longer then the highs. Because after a good day, your quick to get back to capping that next day or weekend. Ready to burn it again.

if i make 200,300,150,-200 i feel like a loozer and want to kick my ass and get a real job. Somewhere in my small monkey brain the -200 stands out.

Its fun to ride rollercoaster in the beginning, but riding the coaster 20 times a day gets old real quick.
    Too bad merrygorounds don't pay.

You definitely learn more about yourself during a losing streak than during a winning streak.

As far as individual games, I do care when I watch the game, but five minutes after the final whistle it's gone; win or lose. I agree that there is much to say for not watching the game at all. Saves a lot of time as well. But I do a lot of half time betting, so that doesn't always work out.

The high is comparible if you are lucky enough to see a perfect betting opportunity involving ayour favorite team, you bet it big, and it hits. If, say, USC had beaten Texas I would have been completely elated for the win, and a huge boost in my betting account too.

Or, if you hit a really tough dog or unlikely parlay, the high is excellent.

Needless to say, lows always seem lower. One reason might be because we take highs for granted. The other might be the simple fact that unless you are very disciplined, it is always the biggest bet you make that you will lose.

Excellent thread, funny how Im still thinking of my half point loss Thur night, but havent even given a minutes thought to the 2 wins I had on Fri/Sat night.

So I dont know if the lows are really lower, but I know I remember the losses more than the wins.

Works the same with stock trading, I cant remember my best trades in 2006, but I can remember my 3 worst trades in detail.

Depends how one "watches" a game. Is one watching as a fan cheering for their bet or are they watching the game looking for opportunities to pounce on a halftime line/live betting and/or scouting matchups for future games?

I would change the statement to, "Never watch a game recreationally where you have a vested financial interest in it" myself.

win needs to be about 5x larger than a loss for the same feeling

Loses hurt more and wins are false security, gambling mostly is a depressant.

depends how much action you have on a game. The pain on the loss will be dirctly proporsional to the money you loose. If you have your hole bankroll on one game; you loose, thats it for gambling for a few weeks, you win, back to work the next day. i had a bad strech this summer, took a bad beating. i took 2 3 weeks off regrouped and won some back.
