Good News! United States loses with ruling by WTO!
Heres a link I just found that the United States lost a ruling on internet gambling to the WTO. Good News for everyone!
http://www.gambling911.com/USA-WTO-I...ng-012607.html
I hope they pass a different bill in the House and Senate to this and makes it right. It might be possible that may happen here, we will just have to wait and see this spring. I think it might get interesting since the United States lost this case.

Why would the US care??? It's not like they care about the rest of the world anyway.
If we could isolate the US from the rest of the world, that would be the best to ever happen.

It is nice to hear but only a victory in principal. The US is out of control on the world stage and simply ignores rulings that do not go in its favour. Have a look at the softwood lumber dispute with Canada, every WTO ruling went against the US and they just ignored it each and every time.

The only shot of this happening is if Hillery wins in 2008, because you know that Bastard Bush would veto that bill on the spot.

I might actually have to think twice about being in favor of that, as long as it was full isolation and ALL of the perks that would come from that (i.e., full repayment of all outstanding loans, assurances from the rest of the world regarding our security, etc). Would be interesting to see just how the rest of the world would do without our interference and/or commerce in any way, shape or form.

Rest of the world copes better when US aren't around. The US couldn't even handle a disaster on its doorstep (New Orleans). Incredible arrogance to think it is indispensible to the world.

You're right, bigloser, we did a pretty poor job and are still doing a poor job with the recovery efforts from Katrina and Rita (aka, the forgotten storm). But I also feel it's incredibly arrogant and/or ignorant to think the world would be a much better, damn-near Utopian garden without some of the USA's assistance along the way.
Did Indonesia and Thailand pull themselves right back to normal on their own following the tsunami? How much aid did Indonesia send victims in the US following Katrina and Rita?
Sure, I wish we were absolutely free from mistakes. Wish this whole mess with gambling wasn't going on. But suggesting the world would be a much better place if America just sank to the depths with Atlantis? No, I have to take acceptance to that.

dont kid yourselves....America IS the breadbasket of the world...total isolation would lead to mass starvation worldwide...there is a reason....when America speaks...the world listens.

we're talking a worldwide economy here. if you take the us away, the system will break down (but will adjust in the end). if you take europe away, the system will break down (but will adjust in the end). if you take africa away, the system will break down (but will adjust in the end). it's a pretty senseless hypothetical discussion, because no country is obviously going anywhere, and we all need each other.
i'm sure almost every non-us citizen and some us-citizen are irritated about the us government being so hypocritical in so many issues, but bitching about the us as a country will get noboby nowhere. it's nice the wto ruled against the us on this occassion, but since the us government obviously don't give a damn about the wto except for when it suits them, it's pretty much a non-event which will not change anything, as long as bush is still here (although i doubt or any other administration will change this in the next couple of years).

I believe gaming is coming back to the US in a big way. The question is- when?

I think jjgold that if the USA doesn't listen Antigua could make life miserable and come out with software for computers and sell it for way cheaper than Microsoft does here, it will come back and haunt them. I believe now that the USA is going to have to listen to the WTO on this and the Democrats who got voted in because of this and the poker players alliance which has been sticking up for all gambling could get something through. All you have to do it stick it with funding for the war like the Republicans did and Bush will have to sign the bill.

This really isn't new news. The WTO made their ruling in '05 on a case they'd been hearing since '03.
What is new is that the U.S. has acknowledged they lost.
Now, they'll file a lengthy appeal which will last until they are ready to regulate and launch online gaming themsleves in the U.S. Which is where I think this is all headed within 5 years.

Mason,
I think it just might be sooner than that and your right. I think they are just trying to get rid of as many scam books as they can before they regulate it and tax it. I somehow think they may reach a deal with Antigua behind closed doors and require the books to give information to the US government and make sure that terrorists aren't having accounts with them there and be able to tax it here also. There is an awful lot of money at stake here to be made, so I don't think that it is going to be turned away for long. I feel this may happen since the Poker Players Alliance in the middle of this within 2 years maybe.

Well, this is the Compliance portion of the matter. The US claimed they were in compliance, even though they had done nothing. We'll see the decision in a few weeks. As far as an appeal of the Compliance panel, the process could take as little as 90 days, and six months at most.

Nice Post Willie. I dont like the impact the US is having on Igaming but I do still love my country.
If the Feds wanted to piss the rest of the world off it would be simple enough. Black-out results of games for an hour or so and have all sporting events shown on tape delay.
How many players would wager on a game they couldn't watch untill an hour later.

You guys cant even keep Beckham out of the US. As for my understanding of the rest of the world
1 year spent in Korea
1 year Egypt
1 year Israel
6 months Panama
6 months Sicily
We played Sucker with some of the Europeans (Italians Brits Fijians Aussies) the only problem we had is you guys seem to get hurt extremely easy. I guess in the colonies we tend to add a bit more contact to the game. If you think our sucker games were bad you should have watched our Combat Volleyball games in Egypt. Going to the net took on a whole new meaning.

And Will Hills soccer limits are higher than Pinnacles NFL limits.
As for boxing I tried to wager on the Munzai Power fight today. Pinnacle would give me $500. I took 15000 pounds with Will Hill and could have had an extra 3000 pounds if I had wanted it
