It'll take a while considering how far up the wazzoo the heads are located.

I have no idea how long, maybe never. I'm pessimistically hopeful that it won't. It amazes me that so many of the lawmakers really think you can just legislate gambling away. Vegas has their head up their butts as well if they don't see the pot o' gold at the end of this currently dark rainbow. They're just as shortsighted as baseball owners back in the 20s and 30s who thought putting their games on radio would hurt them at the gate. The casinos and books in Vegas should be out in front leading the way for greater access to the American public, not backdooring their way into politicos' offices to keep everything status quo.

On one hand, I understand the issue about sending all of this US cash outside the country. But what's going on now is only going to facilitate the growth of local and illegal bookies, just one example, therefore putting an even greater strain on already stretched-thin local law enforcement.

We're driving American gamblers underground and, in some cases, out of the country when we could be, should be, giving them a safe environment for gambling. There's no question that gambling does raise certain social and moral concerns or questions. The morality part, well, we all have to answer that query a little bit differently from the next person. In the end, we'll all have to answer to that to a much higher authority than born again hypocrites like Bush, Frist, et al.

I guess giving US gamblers American on-line options just makes too much sense to a group who continues to build billion dollar bridges to nowhere in Alaska and dole out billions to the rich under the guise of 'farm subsidies,' just to name a couple of boondoggles the average US citizen is paying for.

Well put WB,I agree with you whole heartily.It is ashame that the governments wheels grind so slowly when there is a cash cow out there,but yet they will flush our money quickly on things taking us nowhere..thank you WB

I have a real problem with the whole concept of "Vegas"

I live 2500 miles from Vegas. Where I live gambling and prostitution are "underground"( and not legal)

This is the "United" States of America. Seems to me that the people in Nevada have more rites than me.

If anyone comes up with the "well move to Vegas" answer, it is not an option for me.

Why is this legal in Nevada, but not anywhere else?
That is why we go offshore.
If I could travel 10minutes, half hour, or even two hours to place a bet legally I would. This is not an option for me, or everyone else that doesn't live in the gambling mecca of Vegas.

Just my 2 cents.

If gambling is an act of civil disobedience, I feel even better about it.

We have some strange people in high positions in this country. And a lot of intimidated people being obedient where they don't have to be. Government is here to serve the People, not the other way around. The more people give away their power, the more power the government has. The more people refuse to do so, the less power the government has. It's much more important not to give away your power than it is to vote in this system. So bet. To the max.
